This Physician Billing Services Supervisor will be responsible to:

  • Organize and supervise the daily activities of assigned staff through daily work assignments, productivity measuring and quality assurance review

  • Oversee and manage productivity requirements and quality assurance metrics for assigned work, communicating effectively the expectations to assigned staff, with monitoring/measuring on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis

  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of payer rules, regulations, policies, and procedures relative to assigned PO function/area

  • Assist in development and updates departmental procedures in order to accommodate payer specific requirements and to expedite payment

  • Establish and fosters professional relationships with representatives of payer organizations in order to facilitate appeals of payer decisions; interpret regulation or policy; gather information pertinent to current or proposed developments

  • Work closely with manager, peers and leadership, sharing critical information and statistical data, and developing strategies that will enhance the functional areas performance and human resources

  • Collaborate with internal resources to facilitate process improvement policies and procedures for the physician-billing department. Maintain compliance with the hospital's billing policies and procedures. Assist and participate with reps of the PO technology team and other hospital depts to ensure that systems meet payer and regulatory billing requirements

  • Evaluate, coach and train staff for development and performance improvement. Complete employee performance evaluations accurately and timely in accordance with hospital and departmental requirements

  • Oversee and support a customer service team and directly reports to the Customer Service manager for the SSC

  • Provide customer service support to patients and family members with disputes or inquiries concerning our billing process

  • Advise the customer service staff on proper collection practices; ensure that all billing actions comply with the BCH credit and collection policy and all local, state, and federal guidelines.

To qualify you must have:

  • A High School diploma or equivalent required and 4-5 yrs related physician or hospital billing work experience

  • Analytical skills to resolve complex problems requiring the use of scientific, mathematical, or technical principles and in depth, experienced based cross functional knowledge

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in order to effectively deal with conflicting views and issues and mediate fair solutions

  • Ability to identify, analyze and resolve problems and situations quickly and effectively

  • Ability to work with diverse internal and external constituencies

  • Strong knowledge of overall physician billings operations related to healthcare

  • Demonstrated leadership abilities

VIEW JOBS 8/9/2022 12:00:00 AM 2022-11-07T00:00 <p>GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT: Summarize the nature and level of work performed.</p><p>This position will be responsible for the financial performance, Hospital cleanliness, and the Brigham Experience (Patient satisfaction, and employee satisfaction)</p><p>Reporting to the Senior Leadership, incumbent is responsible for the management of day, evening, night and weekend coverage for the main Hospital campus or satellite operations directing up to 10 Environmental Services supervisors and indirectly managing 100 - 200 non-exempt employees. The Operations Manager is responsible for coordinating, leading, supervising, monitoring, motivating, retaining and controlling the Department human and physical resources in a specific area of responsibility to ensure that Brigham Health's facilities are maintained in a safe, orderly, sanitary, and eye appealing condition for the benefit of patients, visitors and staff. Assures that the quality, quantity, and economy of cleaning services provided conforms to Departmental, Hospital, OSHA, JCAHO, CMS and other governmental agency standards.</p><p>PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Indicate key areas of responsibility, major job duties, special projects and key objectives for this position. These items should be evaluated throughout the year and included in the written annual evaluation.</p><ul><li><p>Directly manages up to 10 Environmental Services supervisors; interviews, hires, trains staff and in consultation with the ESD Leadership, provides corrective action as appropriate; approves all overtime and time off requests; prepares performance evaluations to Senior Leadership; delegates assignments to managerial staff; develops project teams.</p></li><li><p>Provide initial and on-going orientation for all staff; and assists in annual training to meet OSHA, DPH and JCAHO standards (including Emergency Response, Blood Borne Pathogens, Hazardous Communication Standard, and confidentiality of patient information (HIPAA).</p></li><li><p>Advise staff on internal policies and procedures. Acts as liaison with the Human Resources Department assists in staff self-development.</p></li><li><p>Utilize the Corrective Action Policies to insure compliance with existing directives and work standards.</p></li><li><p>As payroll timekeeper, maintains and approves the electronic (KRONOS) payroll system. Utilizing the data from the KRONOS system, he/she will analyze data and run reports to detect trends, individual as well as group.</p></li><li><p>Oversees storeroom operations including maintenance of equipment; order supplies and chemicals; develops strategies for efficient management of supplies, chemicals and equipment; ensures adequate supplies and equipment to perform required duties.</p></li><li><p>Conduct daily assessments of responsible areas to interact with other departments and individual tenants to ensure optimal delivery of service and highest degree of customer satisfaction. They inspect areas of responsibility to insure established cleaning standards are maintained.</p></li><li><p>Provides and educates staff with cleaning chemicals and instructions on their proper usage to perform daily assignments in accordance with MSDS sheets and the &quot;Right to Know&quot; Law. May be required to test, evaluate, and make recommendations on new and current products; make presentations and conduct training seminars as new products are introduced throughout the Institution.</p></li><li><p>Reports and submits required documentation for repairs to the Facilities and Engineering.</p></li><li><p>Monitors and ensures the proper and safe disposal of Bio-Medical and Chemotherapy Waste in accordance with Federal, State, and Local directives.</p></li><li><p>Compiles and maintains a variety of statistics and trends, which are consolidated into reports for submission and presentation to Management both within and outside the Department.</p></li><li><p>Responsible for a budget of $1.0 - $5.0 million.</p></li><li><p>Meet with vendors when researching the purchasing of new equipment or supplies. Make recommendations to Senior Leadership.</p></li><li><p>Ensures that required Departmental, Hospital and safety standards are adhered to within areas of responsibility by assisting ESD supervisors with problem situations; interfaces with user departments, patients and visitors to resolve non-routine problems; ensures the security of assigned areas.</p></li><li><p>Chairs, serves and attends committee meetings as appropriate; conducts weekly meetings with direct reports and quarterly meetings with all support staff to discuss issues, changes, procedures, policies, regulations, department activities, etc.</p></li><li><p>Participates in weekly managerial rounds to ensure quality or work is meeting Hospital and Departmental standards; follows up with supervisors to ensure resolution and prevent reoccurrence; participates in safety and surveillance rounds with Buildings and Grounds and Safety Departments and building managers.</p></li><li><p>Respond to the BWH in the event a Mass Casualty or Hazardous Material Disaster is declared and performs a variety of functions including the set-up of Decontamination Tent. May be required to provide staff support for the movement of supplies, personnel and equipment, manage site responsibility in the event of internal disasters and situations. He/She will be required to attend in-service training to maintain a proper level of readiness. These functions are under the direction of the Incident Commander by way of the Departmental Team Leader. Other exercises that participation will be required include Code Pink, Code Red and Code Blue.</p></li><li><p>Train ESD Supervisors in the use of forms, Departmental/Hospital policies and housekeeping procedures; meet with Department's Training and Quality Improvement Coordinator to ensure that all employees are trained annually in infection control, safety and housekeeping procedures; may also conduct training programs within Department; works as a liaison with the Training Department to assist employees and managers who are seeking to further their education or career.</p></li><li><p>Prepares and submits statistical reports/analyses; prepares and submits capital equipment lists; oversees the preparation of weekly and monthly supervisors Reports ( operational, payroll, section meeting, QA reports etc.).</p></li><li><p>Participates in Departmental management planning by presenting operational long- and short-term objectives to Assistant Director; manages implementation of and adherence to Departmental goals and objectives.</p></li></ul><p>SKILLS/ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED: Must be realistic, objective, measurable and related to essential functions of this job.</p><ul><li><p>Strong ability to effectively interact with all levels of personnel in the organization</p></li><li><p>Strong organizational skills to handle multiple tasks in a busy environment</p></li><li><p>Knowledge of budget procedures</p></li><li><p>Ability to develop, plan and implement short- and long-range goals</p></li><li><p>Ability to foster a positive working environment</p></li><li><p>Ability to supervise and train staff, including organizing, prioritizing and scheduling work assignments</p></li><li><p>Employee development and performance management skills</p></li><li><p>Able to lead and develop employees for advancement</p></li><li><p>Ability to solve problems</p></li></ul><p>LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, and/or REGISTRATIONS (if applicable): Specify minimum credentials and clearly indicate if preferred or required</p><ul><li>CHESP Preferred / must obtain CHESP Certification with in the 1st Year of employment.</li></ul><p>EDUCATION: Specify minimum education and clearly indicate if preferred or required</p><ul><li>Associate Degree required.
