Research APP Mantle Cell Lymphoma

To Perform clinical patient care duties

Conduct clinical assessments at trial required visits and dictate progress notes.

Apply treatment and supportive care plans as required by the research protocol.

Write inpatient and outpatient orders as needed for patients on a research protocol.

Perform telephonic patient management as needed for patients on research protocols.

Communicate pertinent assessment and management of patients with principle investigator, attending physician and appropriate clinical team members. Enter appropriate charges for Fast Track or weekend lab visits that are required by

the research protocol.

To Perform Research Activities

Assess patients for protocol eligibility.

Develop Treatment Plan (completes Clinical Content Template (CCT)) as dictated by the research protocol.

Coordinate, evaluate and follow patient participation in clinical trials in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to meet the needs of patients on clinical trials.

Complete required documentation of research activities.

Assist primary investigator in the collection and evaluation of data.

Provide information to clinical teams to assist with management of protocol-related toxicities.

Communicate pertinent patient responses to therapy with principal investigator, attending physician and other appropriate clinical team members.

Communicate patient assessment and appropriate follow-up information with outside clinicians as appropriate.

Educate patient and significant other regarding research trial requirement and potential toxicities.

Report treatment response, toxicities and adverse events to protocol sponsor and the Institutional Review Board (IRB) within the required timeframes.

REQUIREMENTS

Education

Required: Graduate of a Physician Assistant training program approved by the Council of Medical Education of the American Medical Association.

Experience

Required: None.

Licensure/Certification

Required All of the following: PA certification by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants. Licensed by the Texas State Board of Physician Assistant Examiners. MAY BE REQUIRED: Eligible to be granted limited prescriptive authority by the State of Texas.

The unit cares for these patients through chemotherapy protocols (both investigational and non-investigational), disease process, and supportive care and symptom management due to the side effects of chemotherapy. The ideal candidate will be a licensed RN with a minimum of 18 months experience in an inpatient setting. Prior oncology, telemetry, or medical/surgical experience preferred.
