We are seeking a Physician Assistant to join our General/Specialty Surgery Team. Our current surgical team has great collaboration and covers general and specialty surgical patients including colorectal, breast biopsy/cancer, and thoracic surgery. Our new Physician Assistant would be working with three surgeons that enjoy mentoring as well as our current very experienced Physician Assistant. Our new Physician Assistant would be primarily in the OR and acute/ED area, and secondarily in the office. This position has a strong work/life balance as it does not have an "on-call" requirement. The schedule for this candidate is Monday
To assist attending surgeons as first assistant in surgical cases and to provide appropriate patient care under the direction of the medical, surgical attending, medical attending, anesthesia attending and/or radiology attending.
Opportunity for extra dollars/case during off hours *voluntary at time of need
To provide inpatient care to patients of the Program by conducting and properly documenting history and physicals, consults and daily progress notes consistent with the Medical Center's policies; communicating any new or worsening findings to attending physicians involved in the surgical case in a timely manner.
To participate in department staff meetings, programs, and committees
To provide outpatient care to patients in the practice
To prescribe medications and appropriate therapies with the consent of attending physicians and in adherence to applicable Federal and State Requirements, and in accordance to PA Guidelines.
To provide accurate and complete information regarding patient care for billing and compliance purposes.
REQUIREMENTS: Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant Program; current Physician Assistant Licensure in Massachusetts (ability to apply for one); current NCCPA certification.
