White Plains Hospital Physician Associates Orthopedic Practice is seeking a full-time Physician Assistant to join our outpatient Orthopedic team of 19 surgeons and 11 Physician Assistants. The ideal candidate should be a motivated team player looking to provide high quality care to our patients.The Orthopedic PA will work primarily with a fellowship-trained Orthopedic Surgeon who specializes in total joint arthroplasty.Orthopedic experience is preferred,however we will consider the right candidate with a strong orthopedic interest. Position includes: 12 days Operating Room; 2-3 days outpatient office Monday Friday; Day shift

  • No weekends/ Holidays Surgical 1st Assist *primarily with total hip and knee replacement Position Summary An exempt position working in collaboration with the Orthopedic surgeon(s) to deliver high quality and efficient care. The position has both outpatient and operating room responsibilities. Essential Functions and Responsibilities Include the Following: Understands and adheres to the WPH Performance Standards, Policies and Behaviors. Surgical 1st assist (including wound closure, post-operative orders, etc.) Performing initial and follow-up evaluation, autonomously or in conjunction with supervising physician. Perform/Assist in office orthopedic procedures such as: ultrasound guided injections/aspiration, fracture reduction, casting, splinting, joint aspiration/injections. Ordering and interpreting diagnostic testing (X-rays, MRI, CT scans, etc.) Documentation of office encounters. Prescribing medication and management of refill requests. Ordering and monitoring of therapeutic treatments (physical therapy, occupational therapy, etc.) Triaging, responding and documentation of patient phone calls and requests. Educating patients and family members on diagnosis and treatment options. Work in collaboration with supervising physician and healthcare professionals to deliver high quality patient care. Perform all other related duties as assigned. May require transferring patients High level of responsibility and heavy workload can generate stress Must have ability to communicate verbally with patients, relatives, attending physicians and with nurses and other hospital personnel Must be able to give clear, decisive instructions to nurses and technicians Must be able to maintain legible and thorough documentation of patient care Must have acute visual, auditory, tactile and olfactory senses May be exposed to chemicals necessary to perform required tasks. Any hazardous chemicals the employee may be exposed to are listed in the hospitals SDS (Safety Data Sheet) database and may be accessed through the hospitals Intranet site (Employee Tools/SDS Access). A copy of the SDS database can also be found at the hospital switchboard, saved on a disc.
