University of Minnesota Physicians seeks a Casual PA or NP to join our Adult Preoperative Assessment Center care team. The PA/NP will work in collaboration with Anesthesiologists and other medical staff to provide comprehensive pre-surgical care to ensure the best possible outcome for patients undergoing surgical procedures.

The PA/NP engages in independent decision making about health care needs and provides health care services to individuals. The PA/NP obtains patient histories, performs physical and psychological health assessments, treats and provides patient/ family education and counseling, ensures continuity of health care services, and manages acute and chronic disease conditions.

The PA or NP is an experienced member of the health care team who uses advanced practice skill with the supervision/collaboration of licensed physicians to provide comprehensive health care services to patients. The Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner engages in independent decision making about health care needs and provides health care services to adult individuals throughout their life span.

Position Qualifications:

A qualified candidate will be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing and formal Adult or Family Nurse Practitioner training program or a graduate of an accredited Physician's Assistant program. Have a current MN RN and CNP license and be approved or eligible by the Minnesota Board of Nursing for prescription writing privileges or a current PA license with prescriptive authority through the MN Board of Medical Practice.

Be certified through ANCC/AANP or eligible for ANCC/AANP national exam or through the NCCPA. Must meet threshold criteria/qualifications for Credentialing and Privileges. Minimum of one year of experience in a clinic and/or hospital setting is preferred.

University of Minnesota Physicians seeks an Advance Practice Provider (APP) either nurse practitioner or physician's assistant to join their clinical practice. This position will primarily be located at the University of Minnesota Medical Center and nearby Clinics and Surgery Center with the potential for occasional coverage at Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina or St. John's Hospital in Maplewood. This position is an opportunity to work collaboratively with the vascular surgery care team in the inpatient and outpatient settings. The vascular surgery leadership is looking for a motivated APP driven to provide best outcomes for patients and supporting evidence based models of care in collaboration with our multi-professional team. Responsibilities: Includes practicing in a combined inpatient and outpatient clinical setting, with the potential need to provide virtual visits working from a home location. Inpatient responsibilities include: * Supporting vascular resident and fellow trainees'. * Physical examination of patients. * Daily hospital rounds and planning of patient care with the multi-professional team. * Documentation for consults, daily notes, discharges, family conferences and procedures. * Patient and family education regarding disease process, interventions, and postoperative or post procedure care. * Extremity wound care: debridement, dressing, VAC placement, and Unna's Boot placement. * Consulting other specialists as appropriate. Hospital discharge coordination. Including that follow up care is clearly defined and primary providers informed of patient's course. Outpatient responsibilities include: * Independent patient care for new lower extremity wound consults, hospital discharge follow-ups, and non-surgical vascular surveillance patients. * Assisting clinic nurses when provider input is needed for patient triage questions. * Streamlining pre-visit diagnostic testing. * Refer patients to one of the vascular surgeons and/or other specialists as appropriate. General responsibilities include: * Actively participate in staff education, research, quality improvement initiatives, conferences and administration activities. This includes a weekly vascular surgery preop conference and weekly multidisciplinary vascular surgery conference. * Collaborate and support the vascular fellows and residents who work with our department Partner with members of the vascular surgery teams from other MHealth Fairview sites as needed to assure best care is being provided, especially in the absence of their assigned APP. * Knowledge and competency to provide care at all three hospital locations. * Ongoing optimization of documentation, algorithm development and focus on achieving quality outcomes.
