Function/Duties of Position

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is a faculty member credentialed and privileged as a Physician Assistant (PA) or an Advanced Practice Nurse (APN).

Inpatient Duties

  • Providing inpatient care and follow-up of assigned patients from OR to admission, and through discharge

  • Rounding on a daily basis with the faculty, developing and implementing, in conjunction with faculty physicians, clinical plans of care and/or protocols for inpatients on the Vascular Surgery service with common conditions/diagnoses/procedures

  • Educating the house staff and nursing unit staff on these protocols, with the goal of enhancing quality of care, enhancing quality of patient services, and decreasing length of inpatient stay; participating with hospital/unit staff in evaluating results of these protocols and continually improving effectiveness

  • Working actively with hospital and unit staff to rapidly develop and implement discharge plans for inpatients on the Vascular Surgery service and to address length of stay issues

  • Promoting and maintaining health of inpatients on the Vascular Surgery service through the use of ancillary services, educational materials, and counseling of patients and families

  • Providing resident and intern training/education in utilization of plans of care to improve patient services and outcomes of treatment

  • Providing and/or participating in clinical in-service training and staff educational programs for the inpatient service

General Responsibilities

  • Providing teaching of Vascular surgical and diagnostic treatments to medical students, interns, residents, inpatient general surgery nursing staff, and other Division support staff on the inpatient and/or outpatient service

  • Providing and/or participating in clinical in-services and staff educational programs for the outpatient and inpatient Vascular Surgery service

  • Training Vascular Residents and staff in endoscopic vein harvest procedures

Required Qualifications

  • Master's Degree as required by specific Advanced Practice Provider role

  • Oregon License

  • DEA licensure

  • Two years of clinical experience

  • Current BLS Certification

  • Leadership and motivational attributes

  • Analytical and organizational skills

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Customer Satisfaction aptitude

  • Relationship-building expertise

  • Results-driven orientation

  • Professional in appearance and manner

  • Computer literacy

  • Ability to build goodwill through positive interaction with patients and patient families, facility staff, referring physicians and NHCG staff

Preferred Qualifications

  • Wound Care experience
  • ACLS Certification

The Pulmonary East division of The Oregon Clinic is seeking a full time Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our busy clinic located in the Gateway area of NE Portland. We are looking for a committed team player to provide high quality patient care in a team setting. The provider is responsible for specialty care services, including assessing and managing sleep and pulmonary patients while following established standards and practices. We treat all aspects of sleep and pulmonary conditions, and our advanced practice providers play a critical role in the care of our patients. This position will include clinic and hospital rounding. Weekends are required for hospital rounding. Time off or stipend compensation offered when rounding on weekends. Prior experience within sleep medicine or pulmonary is a plus! Starting pay range, based on experience: $47.58 - $60.56 per hour Medical, Vision, and Rx Insurance is 100% paid for by The Oregon Clinic for full-time employees.
