The Advanced Practitioner will partner with the St. Luke's Physicians to provide high quality, cost effective medical care. This individual will also participate in quality, patient satisfaction and performance improvement initiatives.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Initial evaluation, or history and physical examination of neurology patients.

  • Performs in depth, systematic assessment of all assigned patients as requested.

  • Makes decisions regarding data gathering and appropriate management and treatment for the initial evaluation of a problem or the follow-up of a previously diagnosed condition; including requests for laboratory, radiographic or electro-diagnostic studies.

  • Performs therapeutic and/or diagnostic procedures as directed by the supervising physician.

  • Documents patient contacts appropriately.

  • Provides counseling, instruction and teaching regarding neurological problems to patients, families, colleagues and staff

  • Refers patients and/or families to appropriate support/community services as necessary.

  • Participates in performance improvement activities, departmental meetings, educational projects and research projects as requested.

  • Attends appropriate continuing education to meet or exceed hospital and state standards.

  • Assists with survey accreditation process.

  • Works in conjunction with Physicians to care for medical patients as requested.

  • Performs history and physical examination of all patients seen. Provides primary care consultations on all patients as requested by other physicians.

  • Round at least daily on all assigned patients.

  • Provide cost effective, high quality care based on best practice evidenced based medicine.

  • Make best efforts to adhere to standardized orders and practice guidelines that have been approved by the medical staff.

  • Provide regular, timely, and appropriate communication with referring physicians, patients and their families.

  • Participates in education of patients and their families.

  • Actively develops care plans and discharge dispositions in conjunction with the Case Management team.

  • Complies with established chain of command for work related problems.

  • Participates in regular meetings of the practice group.

  • Remain current with Medical Records documentation and respond in a timely manner to requests for chart review and completion.

  • Submit timely and accurate billing information.

  • Attends appropriate continuing medical education so as to maintain New Jersey State License.

  • Demonstrates ability to develop effective working relationships within the hospital and St. Luke's Health Network.

PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS: Sitting up to 6 hours per day and 2 hours at a time. Standing for up to 8 hours per day, 8 hours at a time. Walking for up to 6 hours per day, 1 hour at a time. Consistently lift, carry and push objects up to 10 pounds. Occasionally lift, carry and push objects up to 75 pounds. Transport patients weighing up to 250 pounds via wheelchair or stretcher. Frequently stoop or bend. Frequently reach above shoulder level. Must be able to perceive attributes of an object through touch. Must be able to hear as it relates to normal conversation, and high and low frequencies. Must be able to see as it relates to general, near, far, color and peripheral vision.

EDUCATION:

Graduation from ANA Accredited Nurse Practitioner Program with a Master's of Science degree. Current New Jersey licensure as a Registered Nurse and Certification from the State Board of Nursing as a Nurse Practitioner.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

Previous experience in neurology preferred. Minimum one year experience as Adult Nurse Practitioner.

WORK SCHEDULE:

Varying hours to meet the needs of the patients, including weekends and holidays.

The Front Desk Coordinator performs, organizes, and prioritizes clerical functions with the Physical Therapy Department. The position includes answering the phone, patient registration, patient scheduling, insurance verifications and authorizations, word processing, filing, and general office duties. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Answers the telephone in a timely manner, assists or directs the caller to the appropriate person or department. * Receives and updates patient information. * Maintains files in the appropriate order. * Establishes and maintains accurate patient records and record filing system. * Accurately completes the registration process in the current computer system. * Verifies patient's insurance benefits. * Processes pre-certifications/authorizations depending on the special requirements of the patient's insurance company. * Schedules appointments considering patient needs and utilizing the clinic time efficiently. * Confirms appointments and maintains a full department schedule. * Communicates any scheduling problems to the Department Manager. * Receives cash, checks, and credit card payments and prepares receipts. * Distributes mail to clinical staff. * Processes requests for release of information in accordance with the policies set forth by the Medical Record Department. PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS: Sitting up to eight hours per day, up to six hours at a time. Standing for up to eight hours per day, up to six hours at a time. Frequent fingering, handling, firm grasping. Frequent twisting and turning. Frequent lifting, carrying and pulling objects up to 50 lbs. Frequent stooping, bending, crouching, and reaching above shoulder level. Seeing as it relates to normal and peripheral vision. Hearing as it relates to normal conversation and telephone use. EDUCATION: High School graduate or equivalent. Excellent oral and written skills required to relate effectively with managers, patients, families, and staff at various levels. Demonstrates competency, as appropriate to the ages of patients served, in the ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of patients' needs; a knowledge of growth and development, and an understanding if the range of treatment needed by these patients. TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Work processing experience required including mastery of MS Office (Word, Excel, and Access). Experience with other PC software (statistical database, presentation, etc.) essential. Three years related office experience required, preferable in a medical setting.
