GENERAL SUMMARY:

The purpose of Physician Assistant (C) Surgical Services position is to provide comprehensive, high-quality service to Cardiac surgery patients, their families and staff throughout the perioperative continuum. This position uses specific safe and culture-related physical, intellectual, psychosocial and developmental attributes in assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care.

STANDARD QUALIFICATIONS

A. Education / Training:

  • A graduate of an AMA recognized PA training program that is accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission or Education for Physician Assistant (ACR-PA) and meet the requirements of the state.

B. Work Experience:

  • Must have open heart and vein harvesting experience. Documentation of prior adult cardiac surgery experience including (endoscopic) vein harvesting preferred.

C. Certification, Licensure, Registration:

  • Certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) and certification as a Physician Assistant by the State of Michigan. State of MI Controlled Substance license required. AHA BLS and ACLS Certification required.

The position will include covering the SICU for rounding and patient management. The candidate will be provided with additional training opportunities to ensure safety and proficiency in performing clinical skills relevant to the Trauma and SICU patient. This position is a 12 -hour shift with rotation of day and night shifts, as well as rotation of weekdays and weekends. Uses specific age and culture-related physical, intellectual, psychosocial and developmental attributes in the assessment, planning and implementation of patient care.
