Provide individual or group treatment consistent with the plan of care established by a PT. Provide the following treatments in a safe and competent manner: therapeutic exercise (PROM, AAROM, AROM, PROM, PRE), gait training, equipment adjustment and progression, functional mobility training and progression, balance activities, family and caregiver training, instruct in home exercise program, modalities including TENS, ES, ultrasound, iontophoresis, phonophoresis, wound care (excluding sharp debridement.) Modify treatment approaches and progresses treatment within established plan under supervisor of PT. Administer standardized tests and measurements including balance tests, functional, reach tests, ROM, grip strength, BP, etc. in a technically competent manner. Complete all progress notes in an accurate, concise, and timely manner.
Minimum 2 years' experience in an outpatient setting working with orthopedic and neurological patients. California licensure as PTA.
Basic knowledge of etiology, course, prognosis,and manifestations of a variety of diseases. Skill in accurately performing basic tests/measurements. Ability to perform a variety of basic treatment techniques.
Ability to effectively and appropriately document patient care activities according to departmental requirement. Ability to communicate effectively (in written and verbal form) with patients, caregivers, referring practitioners, peers, and other healthcare practitioners. Ability to identify the need for and utilize appropriate safety techniques including stabilizing equipment, protection of lines and drains, CPR, water safety, infection control.
Ability to recognize the need for and request assistance. Ability to work in more than one practice area.
