We have an immediate opening for an experienced, professional and certified Physical Therapy Assistant in for Orthosport at our Acworth location. The Physical Therapy Assistant, under the direction of the physical therapist, collaborates in planning and implementing programs that help to restore or improve function in mobility, strength, coordination and range of motion in patients suffering from disease or injury.

Services are provided across the full continuum and rendered in a cost conscious, quality focused and customer-oriented manner. Compliance with all applicable regulatory standards is also required in this role.

Qualifications

Required Minimum Education: Graduate of an accredited school with an Associate degree as a Physical Therapist Assistant or Occupational Therapist Assistant

Required Minimum Experience: New graduates considered; experience preferred in certain areas

Required Skills:
Strong communication skills; customer service mindset; teamplayer

Licensure: Currently licensed as a Physical Therapy Assistant

Essential Functions: * Team Responsibilities: Maintain a focus on the patient as the most important customer of the ACC/CDU. Provide personalized care & service to each & every patient, making them feel welcomed, safe, & more at ease. Anticipate & provide for the physical comfort & emotional needs of patients & their families, respecting their privacy & maintaining their dignity. Provide smooth & rapid delivery of patient care & service by sharing work w/ team members. Collaborate w/ all staff involved in providing care for the ACC/CDU patient, both intra- & interdepartmentally; demonstrate an attitude that reflects respect for the responsibilities & priorities of coworkers. Communicate openly & effectively w/ patients, families, physicians & coworkers, using communication techniques appropriate for the situation. These techniques may include actively listening to others, using open body language, maintaining good eye contact, checking for understanding, & providing or receiving feedback calmly & constructively. Act as a positive role model for coworkers, speak positively about Kaiser Permanente & departmental decisions, & seek to obtain new or enhanced knowledge & skills. Contribute to the improvement of the quality of care & service in the ACC/CDU. Identify opportunities to improve workflow & customer service. Assist in solving problems by participating in department quality improvement meetings & activities. * Patient Care: Assessment: Assist in patient assessment by accurately collecting & documenting simple patient data. All tasks performed will be documented upon completion. Communicate appropriate information to RN & ACC/CDU physician. Perform EKGs; obtain viable tracings & document appropriate information. Perform routine venipuncture & blood specimen collection, properly identify the patient & label specimens correctly perform removal of INT. Perform POC glucose using correct technique; perform controls on POC glucose machine as required. Perform splinting, crutch walk education & assist w/ other orthopedic procedures. Delivery. Assist in delivering patient care based on instruction from & under the supervision of the ACC/CDU RN & physician. Transport of patient specimens, orders, supplies, or documents as needed. Effectively assist RN & MD in performing various patient procedures. Assist RN in preparing patient for discharge. Replenish department stock items when required. Documentation & Privacy. Provide care w/ respect for the inherent dignity, autonomy, cultural beliefs & individuality of each patient. Maintain patient privacy in accordance w/ Kaiser Permanente policies & procedures during assessments & treatments & ongoing care in the ACC/CDU. Properly complete & maintain patient records. This includes: Process orders, retrieve & enter data in the ACC/CDU information systems according to department policy & procedure. Accurately & efficiently enter physician orders, supply orders & charges into the Health Connect system, & retrieve patient & physician information, including diagnostic test results, from the system. Enter information into the Patient Tracking System at required points during each ACC/CDU patient visit in order to facilitate patient flow through the department. Assist w/ development of individualized patient discharge instructions. Basic Qualifications: Experience * N/A Education * High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required. License, Certification, Registration * Current BLS or can be obtained by time of hire. Additional Requirements: * Proficient in performing EKGs. * Proficient in performing phlebotomy. Preferred Qualifications: * Minimum one (1) year as an ED tech, Paramedic, Military Medic or completion of an emergency tech course. * Proficiency with patient tracking systems, automated physician orders and supply chain. * Customer service aptitude demonstrated through Customer Service Assessment.
