BASIC FUNCTION: The Rehab Services Supervisor is responsible for the day to day operations for their Assisted Living and Independent Living rehab department.

Accepts all the clinical responsibilities of a staff therapist, supervises Rehab Department staff and works in conjunction with the Regional Rehab Manager on staff performance reviews, plans for growth and development ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The employee must be able to perform each essential function effectively to be successful in this position.

1.Accepts realistic work load, takes initiative to balance clinical tasks and supervisory tasks.

2.Ensures that new employees receive adequate department training.

a. Trains new therapists appropriately to function within various electronic patient care/billing programs (Casamba, Matrix, etc.)

b. Ensures that employees are well trained for their specific role

a. Ensures completion of training specific to therapy department needs and expectations

b. Orients to specialty programming in therapy department

c. Ensures orientation and training to most current office technology/software

1.Works with the Regional Rehab Director to develop and implement site goals for growth and development.

2.Organizes the therapy site workload

2.Establishes work standards/processes to ensure efficiency and productivity in patient care in line with clinic and department expectations

3.Oversees supply stock and ordering

4.Monitors staff schedules to ensure effective and efficient use of staff time

3.Demonstrates timely and effective problem solving techniques

2.Resolves patient complaints and implements effective solutions

3.Resolves staffing shortages on an as needed basis

4.Anticipates challenges and proactively develops solutions

5.Addresses performance issues on an as needed basis, in cooperation with the LifeSpan Therapy HR Director, and deals with individual staff to correct and improve performance, following process and policy.

4.Manages space and equipment.

2.Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of all staff member's duties/job descriptions

3.Working with the Regional Rehab Director, conducts fair and objective performance reviews for all staff

4.Assists the staff in developing goals for personal development that contribute to the therapy department and goals

5.Leads and organizes interactive staff meetings and inservices, as needed.

6.Works together with other managers and departments

5.Models a high standard for staff in all areas

2.Promotes team work, professionalism, customer service, and communication.

1.Follows and promotes Infection Control policies with regard to blood and body fluids

6.Conducts department in accordance with respective professional organization's Code of Ethics

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Can read, write, and make simple mathematical calculations.

Ability to understand and carry out instructions that are provided in written, oral, or diagram form. Possess well-developed communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrate expertise in a variety of long-term care concepts, practices and procedures.

Possess business experience and solid judgment to plan and accomplish goals; and to discern solutions to problems. Ability to get along well with diverse personalities; tactful, mature and flexible. Ability to establish credibility and empower supporting members of management and staff.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must have a valid Indiana Operator's License.

Must be a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant. Maintains good attendance and attends mandatory inservice meetings. Is able to work overtime or on weekends if needed to complete duties. Has sufficient hearing to hear the conversational voice and adequate near and far vision to complete duties.

WORKING CONDITIONS: The following is a description of the work environment normally encountered.

Reasonable accommodations may be available if needed. Works in a climate-controlled and well-lighted environment with a smoke-free policy. Works in an office and throughout the building daily.

Is subject to interruptions and noise on a daily basis. Works at a computer terminal but is trained in safe work practices to prevent injury. Has a low risk of exposure to infections but is trained in hand-washing practices. May lift, transport, and stock office supplies but receives lifting training and has access to safety equipment to prevent injury.
