Texas NeuroRehab Center (TNC) provides complex medical and brain injury rehab, chemical dependency treatment for adults and neuropsychiatric treatment for youth. The capabilities of the facility as a whole allow for integrated and specialized care for children, adolescents and adults facing difficult challenges.
Texas NeuroRehab Center is currently accepting applications for a Physical Therapist-fulltime. Will provide physical therapy (PT) services to patients in an efficient and professional manner.
Therapies will be completed in accordance with the patient's developmental, psychological, and physical level of function. Exemplify ethical conduct as described in the facility mission statement and in the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) code of ethics. The candidate selected will be responsible for the following:
Achieves quality patient care by providing age and developmentally appropriate PT services according to current clinical, ethical, and community standards, developing and supervising the plan of care/therapy which meets patient's needs, using current methods and techniques and demonstrating sound judgment, and appropriate concern for the safety of patients, self and others. Provides initial PT evaluation and discharge evaluation of patients. Evaluations will be consistent with prevailing professional standards and will be initiated and completed in accordance with current documentation policy and procedure.
Re-evaluations will be conducted when recommended by the treatment team and ordered by the physician, or every 30 days, whichever occurs first. Provides PT consultation and education regarding treatment issues as necessary. Provide supervision of PTAs and PT Aides by: developing initial plan of care, discussing the plan of care with PTAs and Aides and providing supervision as outlined in the PT Practice Act.
The following are the job requirements for the Physical Therapist-fulltime.
Requires a thorough knowledge of human anatomy philosophy, and the effect of treatment procedures on body functions and structure. Knowledge of neurodevelopment treatment and motor control and understanding of neurological dysfunction and its effect on motor performance.
Education and Training: Bachelors or Master's Degree in Physical Therapy.
Licensure and/or Certification: Current Driver's License or State issued Id.
Current license, or temporary license as an LPT in the State of Texas. Certification in CPR.
Experience: One-year experience in a neurorehabilitation setting preferred.
Physical/General: Able to sustain activity eight hours a day.
Able to remain on feet eight hours per day.
Able to confront a dangerous and aggressive patient. Able to verbally communicate to de-escalate a crisis situation, explain treatment to the patient to allow active participation, and to protect self and others from aggressive patients or other incidents.
Able to restrain patients by individual or team restraint per facility policy. Able to frequently lift, carry, and lower 50 pounds without assistance. Able to kneel, stoop, bend, and pull various weights or items (up to 50 pounds). Able to push patients in wheelchairs up and down hills, pursue running patients, and traverse hospital grounds.
Able to transfer patients to and from wheelchairs. Able to visually observe so as to convey patient behavior verbally or in writing. Able to read medical records and other reports.
Ability to use hands to grasp, type, and write (fine motor skills). Regular and expected attendance. Hearing and vision sufficient to perform essential job functions.
