As our Physical Therapist Technician, you will have the opportunity to help guide an underserved population. In this role, you will learn principles of strengthening and conditioning in helping patients recover from injury or severe illnesses. Under the direction and guidance of an experienced Physical Therapist, you will assist in providing care and rehabilitation services to patients within the Maricopa County jail system You will aid patients in regaining function, ranging from restoring basic activities of daily living to full independence, vastly improving their quality of life.

We Require
Medical Assistant Certificate of Completion from an accredited healthcare training program or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
High school diploma or GED

Experience in a healthcare setting
Bilingual skills in Spanish/English
Experience in corrections
Experience working in an orthopedic rehab setting
Certified Physical Therapy Technician (CPTT) training
Job Contributions
Prepares patients for examinations, performs health screenings, obtains medical history, performs venipuncture, performs skin tests, and takes vital signs
Assists providers with medical examinations and procedures
Collects specimens and performs standard diagnostic tests
Under the direction and supervision of a healthcare provider, certain immunizations, injections, and medications may be administered
Within program guidelines, education and counseling are provided to patients and families
Performs medical office and clerical tasks, greets patients, schedules appointments, processes referrals, updates medical records and responds to telephone inquiries
Orders, stocks, and maintains supplies for exam rooms and ensures cleanliness of rooms
Participates in the ongoing evaluation of the patient's functional status (muscle function, endurance, visual coordination, written and verbal communication skills, self-care ability, work capacity, etc.) as delegated by the registered physical therapist
Follows the treatment program and goals for improved patient function as established by the registered occupational therapists
Documents the patient's response to the treatment plan and progress toward the established goals
Coaches patients and teaches them therapeutic exercises and stretches to improve their condition
Uses hands-on therapy such as massage to ease patients' pain and provides stimulation to promote healing
Advises patients and their families on in-home treatment options and what to expect from the recovery process
Reports on patients' status and progress, including, measurements, clinical observations, and gathering supplementary information provided by the patient
Working Conditions
Work is performed inside a jail or a clinic with potential exposure to bodily fluids and contact with individuals who have communicable diseases
May assist in moving or lifting patients
