The Alaska Psychiatric Institute (API) is recruiting for a Physical Therapist.

What you will be doing:

The Physical Therapist is responsible to develop, plan, organize, assess/evaluate, document, and conduct a wide scope of Physical therapy interventions for individual patients and/or groups of patients (various ages including adolescents and forensic) in an inpatient psychiatric hospital setting upon admission as well as assess potential needs after discharge The Physical Therapist will work directly with an interdisciplinary treatment team to provide physical therapy services.

This position is located at 3700 Piper Street in the U-MED district of east Anchorage which offers several maintained walking trails, parks and nearby lakes. This area is filled with several restaurants, shopping stores, and has easy access to public transportation.

Who we are looking for:

We are looking for a candidate with the following competencies:

  • Skills and experience in organization and implementation of individual and group physical therapy modalities.

  • Knowledge, skills, and experience with the use of therapeutic techniques to increase motivation to participate in health and wellness activities.

  • Knowledge or experience in assessing patients' functional capacity, physical dysfunction, and rehabilitative needs.  Skills to administer and score appropriate standardized assessments and share findings with a multidisciplinary Treatment Team.

  • Skills and experience to facilitate physical activity groups that emphasize overall wellbeing, and health management for adults or adolescents and successfully manage hostile or potentially unruly individuals.

BACKGROUND CHECK

The successful candidate must pass a comprehensive background investigation, which includes a state and FBI fingerprint-based background check.

Possession of a temporary permit or permanent license to practice as a physical therapist in the State of Alaska.

At the time of application are requested to submit:

At time of interview applicant must submit:

  • List of three (3) professional references, including daytime phone numbers.

  • Copies of your three (3) most recent performance evaluations, if available.

  • Copy of State Physical Therapy Licensure.

Requires flexible working hours at times, may require weekend coverage.

If selected for the position and prior to hire, applicant will be asked to:

  • Submit to fingerprinting and background check screening.

  • Provide proof of Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis (Tdap), Mumps, Measles, Rubella (MMR), and Varicella Immunizations.

  • Provide proof of Hepatitis B (immunity or declination statement)

  • Provide annual Influenza vaccination or a signed declination statement.

  • Proof of Tuberculosis screening within past 12 months.
