VIEW JOBS 11/10/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-02-08T00:00 Job Title: Lead Radiation Therapist | Radiation Oncology | Fargo, ND City: Fargo State: North Dakota Department : Radiation Oncology Job Schedule: Full Time Shift: Days Hours Per Shift: 8 hr JOB SUMMARY Provides high quality images, to include sophisticate special procedures, through the operation of specialized equipment which ensures optimum clarity for physician diagnosis and minimum discomfort and radiation exposure to patients. Thoroughly understands the operation of the interventional equipment and supplies, diagnostic radiographic principles, including film/imaging processing, quality control, and radiation protection. Works to minimize the risk and duration of recovery to patients, imitating life support measures as necessary. Adheres to the Safety and Infection Control Policies established by Sanford Health. Works to develop an understanding of the patients physical and emotional status, while practicing sensitivity and patient confidentiality at all times. Works well with all age groups.Possesses an extensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology, disease processes, and medical terminology. Familiar with operative terms and pharmacology. Knowledge of billing and coding of procedures. Ability to adapt and facilitate change. Performs on a level not requiring constant supervision and must exercise professional judgment in the performance of highly specialized procedures. Ability to work a flexible schedule and take after hour call when needed. Ability to provide knowledge and be responsible for scheduling and performing diagnostic and interventional procedures in designated units. Observes, evaluates, and participates in the educational processes of the Radiologic Technology student. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES Train or supervise student or subordinate radiotherapy technologists. Follow principles of radiation protection for patient, self, and others. Evaluates the accuracy of results obtained from clinical laboratory tests. Adheres to established internal standards and procedures abstracted from HIPAA. Coordinates work schedules and workloads for personnel. Help physicians, radiation oncologists, or clinical physicists to prepare physical or technical aspects of radiation treatment plans, using information about patient condition and anatomy. Maintain records, reports, or files as required, including such information as radiation dosages, equipment settings, or patients' reactions. Educate, prepare, reassure patients and their families by answering questions, providing physical assistance, and reinforcing physicians' advice regarding treatment reactions or post-treatment care. Review prescription, diagnosis, patient chart, and identification. Monitors all releases of patient information for compliance with HIPAA and other privacy laws. Check for side effects, such as skin irritation, nausea, or hair loss to assess patients' reaction to treatment. QUALIFICATIONS Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is required. If working in North Dakota and performing medical imaging or radiation therapy procedures, licensure through the North Dakota Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy (NDMIRT) is required. Completion of radiation therapy course from an approved school or accredited program, for example, Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT).
