Job Description:

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Administers effective physical therapy evaluation and treatments per physician orders to assure quality patient care.

Establishes and maintains records pertinent to patient treatment in accordance with departmental policies to assure good communication among caregivers and to meet all regulatory requirements.

Maintains clinical competency and assists with the organization and teaching of educational programs to further staff development.

Completes assigned administrative tasks in an accurate and timely manner to assist the director and performs duties in such a way that supports the needs of the department.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Licensure/Certification:

• Graduation from a school of Physical Therapy (PT) with a minimum of a B.S. or B.A. degree and successful completion of clinical internship requirements.

• Current possession of licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Physical Therapist by the Board of Medical Examiners, State of California required.

• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

• Masters degree preferred.

Knowledge:

• One year of professional experience as a Physical Therapist preferred.

• Knowledge and understanding of physical therapy procedures and techniques required for providing routine inpatient, Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) and outpatient Physical Therapy evaluations and treatments.

• Knowledge of geriatric and general neurological rehabilitation techniques beneficial.

• Knowledge of infection control procedures.

• Knowledge of proper body mechanics.

Skills:

• Ability to follow directions accurately.

• Ability to establish effective relationships with patients and fellow employees.

• Ability to assume responsibility for updating skills as required by hospital policy.

• Ability to walk and stand for long periods, stoop and mechanically operate wheelchair accessories repetitively throughout the day and position/transfer dependent patients in and out of bed without assistance.

• Note: Requires employees to drive at least once per pay period. Candidates must possess and supply proof of: a current CA Driver's License, a clean DMV printout and Auto Insurance coverage with a minimum of $50,000 per person/$100,000 per occurrence (or a combined single limit of $100,000) and property damage coverage in an amount not less than $50,000 per occurrence.
