Physical Therapist

The Physical Therapist at RRHS evaluates and conducts medically prescribed physical therapy treatment programs by implementing a written plan of care in accordance with state and federal regulations. The Physical Therapist provides educational information to student-athletes regarding injury prevention, ergonomics, restorative therapy, and rehabilitation therapy. This position will be placed at an NCAA Division I institution.

Essential Functions:

• Performs initial and ongoing assessments of the patient's condition.

• Establishes a plan of care that is appropriate to the problems identified and involves the patient according to his or her capabilities and desires.

• Plans, prepares, and carries out individually designed programs of physical treatment to maintain, improve or restore physical functioning, alleviate pain, and prevent physical dysfunction in patients.

• Performs therapy interventions utilizing standard physical therapy techniques and skills as appropriate for the age and condition of the patient.

• Directs and supervises physical therapy assistants, students, and other support personnel. Assesses competence, delegates specific tasks, and establishes channels of communication. Is accessible to the PTA at all times during patient treatments.

• Administers treatment involving application of physical agents, using equipment, moist packs, ultraviolet and infrared lamps, and ultrasound machines.

• Evaluates, fits, and adjusts prosthetic and orthotic devices and recommend modifications.

• Identifies and documents goals, anticipated progress and plans for reevaluation.

• Adheres to policies and procedures.

• Maintains patient treatment schedule consistent with the needs of the department.

Required Skills:

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Possible lifting, bending, walking, kneeling, stretching, and stooping. Requires hand/eye coordination and manual dexterity. Requires normal hearing and eyesight to allow for patient interaction and transfer of patient information from the patient to the pen chart. Need to have the ability to handle high amounts of stress.

Qualifications:

• Basic Life Support (BLS).

• Current Physical Therapy License to practice in NC.

Minimum Work Experience:

• Prefer 1-3 years of PT experience preferred. Will train new graduates.

Minimum Education:

• Bachelor's degree required in a related field from an accredited college or university.

• Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) preferred.
