Logan Regional Medical Center is seeking a Physical Therapist to provide physical therapy services for our Rehabilitation Services Department in accordance with the American Speech Language Hearing Association Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice, State of West Virginia law, and hospital policy.

  • Evaluates and conducts medically prescribed physical therapy treatment programs. Provides educational information to patients in regard to injury prevention, ergonomics, restorative therapy and rehabilitation therapy. Supervises physical therapy assistants and aides in performing treatment.

  • Coordinates the physical therapy care for the patient population of primarily adolescent, adult and geriatric persons who are acutely ill and have medically complex needs, which result in mobility and activities of daily living deficits.

  • The Physical Therapist is an integral member of an interdisciplinary team and is expected to accurately assess the patients' needs; identify and implement appropriate physical therapy treatment; coordinate and/or provide patient and family teaching and work in collaborative association with the interdisciplinary team to provide timely, safe and cost effective treatment to achieve the optimal functional outcome.

  • The functions are carried out according to hospital policy and mission statement, Performance Improvement Plan and philosophy of the Physical Medicine and Rehab Department. The Physical Therapist is also responsible for participating in the hospital and departmental Performance Improvement Plan and assisting in program development activities.

  • Further responsibilities include contributing to the cost effectiveness of services and programs of the Therapy Department.

Our services include a 24/7 Emergency Department (Level 4 Trauma and ACC Accredited Chest Pain Center), ICU/CCU, Pediatric Unit, an award-winning Wound Care Center, Nutrition Counseling, Physical / Speech / Occupational Therapy, Inpatient Physical Rehab, Respiratory Therapy, Sleep Lab, Cath Lab, Interventional Radiology, Cardiac Rehab, Speech Therapy, Obstetrics, Pediatrics, Hospitalist Services, Pulmonology, Medical Oncology, Infusion Services, and ongoing community education. Surgical services include both inpatient & outpatient services in the specialties of general surgery, laparoscopic surgery, urology, GI / endoscopic, orthopedics, ophthalmology, GYN, Podiatry, and ENT. General Surgery and GYN Surgery are performed utilizing a recently added DaVinci X robot. LRMC has a full range of diagnostic imaging, including 3D Mammography, Fluoroscopy, MRI, PET, two 64-slice CT's, Nuclear Medicine, Bone Densitometry, and Ultrasound. Knowledge and Ability

The Physical Therapist, working in a staff position, has a well-developed plan for meeting patient needs, demonstrates sound clinical judgment and is competent in the practice of physical therapy. The PT demonstrates competency in utilizing necessary physical agents and modalities to deliver care to the young adult through geriatric patient population. The Physical Therapist demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal) with administrative staff as well as patients and families, in an assertive, professional manner.

Education/Experience

The Physical Therapist is a graduate of a School of Physical Therapy with current licensure in West Virginia as a Physical Therapist.

Physical Requirements

Good general health and stress coping ability. Full mobility and ability to participate in normal activity. Demonstrates ability to speak and hear to communicate with patients, physicians, hospital personnel and the public. Near vision acuity for accurate reading and ability to inspect and analyze work. Able to lift up to thirty (30) pounds. Able to bend, stoop and stretch with minimal physical limitation.

OSHA Task Category

The normal procedure involves potential exposure to blood, body fluids or tissue. Universal Precautions with patients should be adhered to in the unlikely event of accidental exposure with ready access to first aid. Protective devices should be worn by the employee when performing tasks that may cause exposure.
