Position Title: Physical Therapist Department: Acute Therapies


Purpose:


To provide quality care to a variety of patients within Genesis Health System in a caring, professional and efficient manner.

These settings may include inpatient, outpatient, long term care, home health care and /or outreach services.

To evaluate the patient#s condition and develop, implement and coordinate a customized physical rehabilitation plan to enhance strength, flexibility, range of motion, motor control, skin integrity, balance, and functional mobility skills, with associated equipment as needed, as well as reduce pain and discomfort and prevent secondary impairments in neonatal, adolescent, adult and geriatric populations. To complete necessary documentation in an accurate and timely manner.

To supervise clinical interns in and effective and professional manner and to supervise supportive staff effectively as required by Iowa and Illinois professional practice acts.

Supervisory Responsibility:


Guidance: The job requires the provision of occasional guidance and training to others. The job does not have formal or official supervisory responsibilities.


Materials Responsibility:


Very Limited.

Work requires very limited responsibility for material resources.

Examples of resources could include personal work materials, supplies or equipment, or very small amounts of cash. The employee has a very limited or indirect amount of control over these resources.

Although human error might require the repair or replacement of materials, usually the cost of correcting these errors is minor.

The variety and volume of resources is also very limited. Problems associated with material resources are very uncomplicated.

Our Orthopedic Residency Program began in 2006 with 48 therapists completing the program and 96% achieving clinical specialization snce inception. The department enjoys strong support from the clinical community and has a long tradition of preparing physical therapists with exceptional clinical skills across all areas of practice. Our ten core faculty members are committed to our vision of becoming a premier physical therapy department creating leaders who optimize healthcare. The faculty promote student centered learning and have established records of service and scholarship. The Physical Therapy Department is one of ten units in the College of Health and Human Services. Faculty from throughout the college work together to support interprofessional education, person centered care, collaborative practice, community service and scholarship. Responsibilities: The Director is responsible for all aspects of academic leadership and administration, providing mentorship and faculty development, budgeting and fiscal management, oversight of assessment and evaluation, and development of new initiatives. These efforts are supported by highly engaged personnel and a mature committee structure. Teaching responsibilities will be based on contemporary expertise and the needs of the department. Qualifications: Applicants should hold an earned academic doctorate (PhD, EdD, DSc, or equivalent), have a minimum of 6 years of experience in higher education with a minimum of 3 years of experience in a physical therapist education program, and be eligible for licensure in Iowa. In addition, the Director should have demonstrated leadership experience, strong communication skills, and a record of teaching, scholarship, and service consistent with appointment at the associate or full professor rank. The position is a 12-month appointment with rank and salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. The position starts on July 1, 2021, but an earlier start date could be negotiated.
