Principal Duties and Responsibilities 1. Collaborates with the treating physical therapist to develop and implement treatment plans and goals. 2.
Administers appropriate therapeutic techniques accurately and continuously monitors the patient's response to treatment, informing the treating physical therapist of changes in status or functioning. 3. Documents patient care accurately and in a timely way in the medical record and as needed to facilitate continued care or billing. 4. Confers with the patient and/or family, referring physician, staff, vendors, or other facilities to facilitate or coordinate care, obtain patient equipment, or assist with discharge planning. 5.
Maintains and enhances professional knowledge and skills through participation in continuing education programs, professional organizations, and/or review of professional literature. 6. Assists in orientation and training of new staff as appropriate, and may assume responsibility for supervision of aides and/or P.T.A. students after obtaining one year of work experience. 6. Participates in departmental meetings, projects, and ongoing performance improvement activities. 8. Participates in inservices, rounds, orientations, and committees within the hospital and/or the community to advance understanding of physical therapy services and contribute to patient care and employee safety.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED 1. Associate's degree from an accredited physical therapist assistant program. 2.
Current licensure to practice as a physical therapist assistant from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. 3. Good oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients and other healthcare providers. 4. Good organization and time management skills to manage patient case load. 5. Ability to attend to detail more than 60% of the work time.
