ptShift Details: M-F with rotating weekendsDepartment: Physical Therapy | Reports To: Exec Director-Rehabilitation & Post Acute ServicesThe mission of Faith Regional Health Services is to serve Christ by providing all people with exemplary medical services in an environment of love and care.Summary:The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) is a professional who is responsible for providing patient care under the supervision and direction of the supervising physical therapist(s). The PTA is responsible for implementing and documentation of interventions and patients' responses to treatments. He/she collaborates with supervising physical therapists and other members of the interdisciplinary health care team to provide continuity of care. The PTA may assist the PT in the delegation of tasks to appropriate individuals including technicians and students. The PTA must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate patient care and is accountable to the policies and procedures of the organization. He/she is responsible to the Director of Rehabilitation Services.The listing of job duties contained in this job description is not all inclusive. Duties may be added or subtracted at any time due to the needs of the organization.Responsibilities:Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:1.Demonstrates ability to appropriately modify approach and procedures to meet needs of age/diversity of population served for the following age groups:☐ Neonate (birth- 28 days)☐ Infant (29 days - less than 1 year)☒ Pediatric/Child (1 year- 12 years)☒ Adolescent (12 years- 18 years)☒ Adult (18 years- 65 years)☒ Geriatric (over 65 years)*
  • Incorporates cultural considerations in the provisions of care. * Knowledge of growth and developmental stages. * Considers life changes/effects on health beliefs and behaviors. * Provides necessary safety measures. * Provides information and involves family/caregiver in decision making.2.Performs all responsibilities/duties required by the Rehab Therapies Department as defined in the scope of practice, to assure that the unique nature of the patient is addressed. This includes, but is not limited to, the age of the patient served.3.Practices Physical Therapy consistent with the American Physical Therapy Association Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice, and the State of Nebraska Statutes, Rules and Regulations relating to physical therapy.4.Stays abreast of new techniques and trends related to Physical Therapy through active professional development plan.5.Performs physical therapy interventions in compliance with established policies and procedures that have been selected by the supervising Physical Therapist.6.Performs delegated tasks in a safe, structured manner considering a patient's plan of care, goals, diagnosis, and daily condition.7.Communicates effectively with the supervising Physical Therapist(s) about each patient's response to treatment, progress, needs, and concerns.8.Competent use of physical therapy interventions to implement the supervising Physical Therapist's plan of care to meet the patient's age specific needs.9.Carries out the supervising Physical Therapist's plan of care and discharge plan as appropriate and provides continuity of care to meet the patient's changing needs and achieve the outcomes.10. Provides timely, articulate and accurate verbal and written communications with supervising Physical Therapist and other health care team members.11. Provides documentation, which includes treatment given, patient response to treatment, and is timely, legible, accurate, inclusive and concise.12. Provides appropriate supervision of technicians and PTA students (when applicable).13. Identifies educational needs for patient/family/caregiver.Hours will be dependent on patient census and workload.   • Graduate of a professional Physical Therapist Assistant education program accredited by the Commission of Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) required. * Bachelor's Degree preferred.EDUCATION FIELD OF STUDY:* Physical Therapy Assistant required.CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:*
  • Current Physical Therapist Assistant certificate from the State of Nebraska required. * Basic Life Support (BLS) obtained within one full month from date of hire required. * Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) obtained within six full months from date of hire (only for staff scheduled in Home Health and Hospice)Skills/Knowledge Requirements:SKILLS:*
  • Language Skills- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language required * Entry Level Computer Skills required.Other Certifications/Requirements:*
