The Physical Security Systems Engineer will be responsible for accurately engineering, designing, and estimating enterprise grade intrusion, access control, video surveillance, video analytics, and supporting subsystems while adhering to classic project constraints. The position will require working in a team environment providing physical security system consulting and design services to clients operating commercial, institutional, and educational facilities. As a Physical Security Systems Engineer you must work closely with account executives, operations personnel, and end users who rely on your technical expertise to design adequate systems and have general knowledge of industry standards to assure compliance. You will attend planning meetings and site visits, take responsibility to create technical installation packages including a detail scope of work, and submit required material lists to purchasing for procurement of associated components; all while meeting company, customer, and industry standards. Additional tasks involve risk assessments; electronic and physical security systems designs carried through the life of the project from conceptual design through construction documents.
The candidate will need to:
Adherence to project manager's and client directives and project scope, performing site surveys and/or client engagement to develop design requirements.
Drawing & specification documentation for existing or extended electronic security systems.
Review, evaluate and update drawings and product submittals, prepare technical specifications for installation methods and components.
Coordinate physical infrastructure system layout and as-built designs with internal and/or external partner teams.
Interact with systems vendors to negotiate contract bids and awards.
Assuring quality control to ensure a successful implementation
5-10% domestic and international travel may be required
1-3 years' experience in the security systems design or design/build field.
Thorough knowledge of security system design and integration, including basic signal flow, system functionality, and best practices.
Intimate knowledge of services, hardware, infrastructure and systems architecture for physical security systems. Experience should include knowledge of technical, physical and operational security elements.
Must have knowledge of UL, NFPA, NEC, and building standards.
Must have a thorough knowledge of construction and electrical wiring, as well as a strong comprehension of blueprints.
Strong communication skills, attention to detail, follow through, and excellent customer service skills
Valid Driver's License
Use of standard office equipment and small hand tools
Finger and wrist dexterity and hand/eye coordination
Necessary vision to work with small, detailed diagrams and color coding
Ability to walk, stand, bend, lift up to 50 lbs., and drive a vehicle.
Proficient in MS Office, specifically Excel, Word, Visio, and Power Point
Works equally well as an individual contributor or team member.
Proficient in Bluebeam and Acrobat
Proficiency in AutoCAD ADT-2015 / Revit 2015 or later, Microsoft Office 2010 or later, including Word, Excel & Outlook.
Preferred Qualifications, Not Required:
A demonstrated proficiency in network based systems is preferred.
