QUALIFICATIONS: Valid Indiana Teaching License/Transition to Teaching Candidates Considered
Bachelor's degree with major or minor in Physical/Aquatics
Education Lifeguard Certification (completed prior to the start of the 2024-25 school year)
Lifeguard Instructor Certification (completed prior to the start of the 2024-25 school year)
Water Safety Certification (completed prior to the start of the 2024-25 school year)
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 183 days. Salary based on current pay scale as set by contract negotiations.
REPORTS TO: Craig Leach, Principal
SALARY BENEFITS: Salary Range $42,500 - $79,000-Status Quo
STARTING DATE: August 8, 2024
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
● Teaches knowledge and skills in physical fitness in alignment with established Indiana Standards.
● Work cooperatively with other physical education teachers in planning a balanced physical education including K-10 aquatics programs.
● Analyze, demonstrate, and explain basic skills, knowledge, and strategies of formal sports, games, and fundamentals of body movement.
● Provide individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student, to the extent feasible.
● Provide appropriate safety instruction and make safety checks on equipment, field area(s), swimming pool to insure the overall safety of students.
● Maintains control of storage and use of school-owned property.
● Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly and productive environment in the physical education areas.
● Evaluate each student's growth in physical skills and knowledge of physical fitness.
● Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district, and/or in self-selected professional growth activities.
● Select and requisition equipment and instructional aids; maintains required inventory records. Communicates with parents and school counselors on student progress.
● Identify student needs and cooperates with other professional staff members to address barriers to student learning.
● Participate in the development of curriculum and other physical education/health/aquatics programming.
● Participate in faculty committees and the sponsorship of student activities.
● Perform other duties as assigned by the building principal
