Duties
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Participate with other staff members in determining and achieving school programs, goals and objectives.
Follow department goals and course objectives as the basis of instructional planning. ? Pre-assess student readiness for new instruction.
Pace programs through the curriculum according to student/class needs and abilities. ? Match resources, teaching strategies and assessment to the learning goals and objectives. ? Prepare and execute lesson plans according to course objectives.
Clearly communicate the expectations for each lesson.

Organize instructional materials for each lesson.
Make effective use of class time.
Vary teaching to accommodate a variety of learning styles and resources. ? Demonstrate clearly the relationship between new and previously presented material. ? Assign and evaluate class work and homework on a timely basis.
Assess student progress regularly.
Clarify concepts and strengthen skills through use of relevant examples and/or demonstrations. ? Involve students in the learning process.
Demonstrate knowledge, understanding and skill to teach the subject matter. ? Establish and maintain an appropriate instructional climate.
Clearly communicate classroom, as well as school, rules and procedures. ? Maintain discipline and resolve unacceptable student behavior consistently and appropriately. ? Maintain and submit upon request, accurate and complete records as required by law, District policy and administrative regulations.
Uphold and enforce departmental and school rules, administrative regulations and Board Policy. ? Demonstrate effective communication skills when dealing with immediate supervisors, parents, students, peers and other school groups.
Participate in school/community relations and present a positive school image to the community when serving in a representative role for the school district.
Continuous professional development.
Fulfill all contractual obligations.
Demonstrate compliance with all Board of Education policies and regulations. ? Demonstrate support for the District vision, mission, beliefs and goals.
Demonstrate compliance with the Illinois Professional Teaching Standards. ? Demonstrate an understanding of the Common Core State Standards.
Perform responsibilities as outlined within the Charlotte Danielson Framework for Teaching, ? Perform other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective function of the work unit
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree
Licenses: Valid Illinois Professional Educator License with Physical Education, Health, and Safety and Driver Education endorsements, and the ability to meet Highly Qualified Status requirements. ESL/Bilingual endorsement preferred.
Experience: Experience teaching (to include student teaching) Physical Education, Health, and/or Safety and Driver Education, in the last five years. Bilingual (Spanish) speaking preferred.
