Summary The Physical Education teacher is responsible for leading the implementation of the instructional program and work in collaboration with classroom teachers, the Head of School, and the UMCS community to create a child-centered, powerful physical education experience for Urban Montessori's children. About UMCS Urban Montessori Charter School's mission is to develop self-directed and engaged learners who are academically, socially and emotionally prepared to succeed in any high school.

The school is located in Oakland and is open to all children residing in the state of California. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Student Achievement & Character Development Set and hold students to high academic and behavioral expectations Demonstrate and embody the schools core values and ensure that students are challenged Believe in measurable student academic growth to increase individual student's achievement Core Instructional Excellence Assess every student's mastery of the content and diagnose areas of student misunderstanding Demonstrate strong content knowledge Prepare questions, model responses and practice effective instructional delivery Lead students through guided and independent practice and regularly check for understanding Use engagem

Educational Background and Work Experience: CA state credential in Physical Education or multiple subject credential or ability to obtain Two years of teaching experience with a record of high student achievement Bachelor's degree from a competitive college or university Experience working with youth
