QUALIFICATIONS:

• Valid Michigan teaching certificate for K-12 MX or MB endorsement. MX preferred.

• Knowledge and experience in teaching physical education and the Common Core State Standards.

• Knowledge of and able to apply best instructional practices

• Strong personal integrity and professional ethics

• Strong classroom management and organizational skills

• Possess good communication skills

• Positive behavioral support experience preferred

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ability to plan and coordinate with general education teachers

• Ability to maintain accurate records and meet multiple deadlines

• A desire to continue to grow as a professional

• Support and instruct students in a healthy lifestyle and habits

• Ability to integrate core class material into a physical education experience

• Ability/experience leading team meetings

• Understands diversity of student learning styles and can skillfully prepare and apply differentiated learning experiences

• Experience working with students of varying academic abilities

• Demonstrates ability to use data to drive instructional decisions

• Computer literate with a proven proficiency to effectively apply and integrate technology to support meaningful teaching and successful student learning

• Experience/training in Restorative Practices and Trauma Informed Care is preferred

• Ability to develop/sustain positive working relationships with students, staff, and the school community

• Motivates students and influences their behavior

• Creates and executes clear, logical instructional plans collaboratively that produce strong results in student learning

• Maintains and communicates standards of pupil behavior and classroom management expectations for the purpose of providing a safe and secure learning environment

• Creates and thrives in a professional environment that is one of mutual respect, teamwork, and accountability

• Maintain the drive for results by demonstrating persistence, directness, and the ability to monitor and plan ahead

• Understands and implements Board of Education Policy, Administrative Guidelines, and organizational practices for the purpose of consistency and compliance

SALARY: Based on Teacher Contract and Salary Schedule

REPORTS TO: Middle School Principal
