Photovoltaic Device Performance Engineer

NREL's Cell and Module Performance (CMP) group is internationally recognized for providing the highest level of accredited, traceable calibrations for any and all types of photovoltaic (PV) cells and modules. We are constantly pushing the boundaries of PV measurement science. The successful candidate will work with senior CMP scientists and engineers to realize new measurement techniques and hardware. After initial training and orientation on I-V and QE test beds the candidate will focus on advancing the state of the art in PV measurements through design, construction, interfacing, and programming of new hardware, electronics, and software.
Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Material Science or related field OR
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Material Science or related field and 2 or more years of experience .
Additional Required Qualifications
Strong track record of hands on design, construction, and programming of electrical instrumentation.
High level of skill and experience in LabView programming for data acquisition and hardware control.
Highly motivated, self-starting, eager to learn new skills, and comfortable working alone or as part of a project team.
Good understanding of current vs. voltage instrumentation
Strong analytical skills, detail oriented, strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
Very good writing, interpersonal, and communication skills are essential.
Creative, good judgment, clear sense of purpose and personal responsibility.
Graduate-level understanding of semiconductor device physics
Relevant experience in PV device performance measurements
Demonstrated track record programming in Python for instrument control and data acquisition.
Good understanding of probability, statistics, and uncertainty analysis
