As the industry strives to meet the demands of the AI workloads, bottlenecks in data transfers between processors and memory have hindered progress. The Photonic Fabric based Memory Fabric provides an optically scalable solution to the 'Memory Wall' problem, enabling tens of Terabytes of memory capacity at full HBM bandwidths with low tens of nanoseconds of latency and extremely low power. The Photonic Fabric based Compute Fabric enables Terabyte class bandwidth between compute nodes at low latency and power. Photonic Fabric delivers a transformative leap in AI system performance, ten years more advanced than existing technologies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Responsibility for the development and maintenance of a Photonics Process Development Kit (PDK) at commercial Silicon Photonics foundries.

• Lead PDK development, including being the primary interface with the foundry, creating process and device specifications, integrating the PDK into standard chip-design environments and identifying wafer acceptance criteria.

• Work in conjunction with the broader Photonics team to ensure that PDK design goals are met at both the device and system level.

• Also contribute to the design of Silicon Photonic devices and subsystems to augment the PDK as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Specialized skills

• Strong experience with developing and/or deploying Silicon Photonics PDKs at commercial foundries, including a deep understanding of both design and process impacts on device performance.

• Strong experience with modeling of photonic circuits and with simulation of Silicon Photonics components using standard tools (Lumerical, Photon Design, RSoft, VPI or similar).

• Strong experience with physical design/layout tools and environments (Cadence, Mentor or similar)

• Strong experience in managing a team of designers to develop Silicon Photonics library elements.

• Experience with data analysis tools (JMP, DataConductor or similar)

• Education requirements

• Minimum MS in engineering or physics. PhD is preferred.

• Experience requirements

• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience

For California location:

As an early startup experiencing explosive growth, we offer an extremely attractive total compensation package, inclusive of competitive base salary and a generous grant of our valuable early-stage equity. The target base salary for this role is approximately $175,000.00 - $200,000.00. The base salary offered may be slightly higher or lower than the target base salary, based on the final scope as determined by the depth of the experience and skills demonstrated by candidate in the interviews.
