As a Photolithography Materials Engineer at Micron Technology in Boise, Idaho, you will be responsible for material selection and optimization for advanced memory devices. You will collaborate with our team of process engineers to define material requirements and timelines for next-generation memory products. We coordinate material evaluations with several suppliers to drive improvements in imaging performance, quality, and cost. After identifying materials that meet product requirements, you will engage with our process team to implement the best material on product. You will spend several hours per week in the cleanroom, testing new photoresists on tracks and scanners. Our team collaborates with other technology development and manufacturing sites worldwide, and leads alignment projects to ensure all fabs are matched on the best processes. Additionally, you will address process issues with pilot manufacturing and support process excursions and lead continuous improvements for manufacturability.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • We are looking for people with strong aptitude in research and development and an interest and capability to build new production-worthy and efficient photolithography technologies.

  • Share technical data and work closely with suppliers to optimize materials for specific applications.

  • Work in a cleanroom, follow safety procedures, and use appropriate personal protection equipment.

  • Communicate effectively with groups across different departments, sites, and geographies. Maintain global alignment on photo materials and process conditions.

  • Provide technical support for excursions related to photo materials, both in Boise and at other Micron sites.

Qualifications and Skills :

  • Degree/Major: M.S. or Ph.D. in Material Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, or Electrical Engineering, or a B.S. with 5 years' relevant experience.

  • Hands-on experience with cleanroom equipment, including familiarity with lithography equipment and processing, and related metrology.

  • Knowledge and an understanding of chemical processes specific to lithography, including photoresists for 365 nm, 248 nm, 193 nm, and EUV lithography.

  • Knowledge of optics for photolithography or experience with photolithography simulation software such as Prolith or S-Litho is helpful

  • Coursework or industry experience showing strong statistical analysis skills, including design of experiments and data analysis. Experience with JMP, Python, or other statistical analysis software is helpful

  • Flexibility to work occasional weekends and evenings, as necessary.

As a Photolithography Engineer in Micron's R&D/Technology Development group, you are responsible for process module development for memory devices, in addition to other photolithography and process integration related activities! You will work with Micron engineers, technology partners and vendors to develop unit processes that meet device requirements for next-generation semiconductors, integrate processes as part of our team and ultimately provide technology transfers to Micron's worldwide manufacturing network. Additionally, this engineer will process issues with pilot line manufacturing and work on continuous improvements for manufacturability. Advanced process development tasks will include: performing material evaluations; reticle, layout and OPC development; process window analysis; and overlay optimization. This position is being offered in Boise, ID. Responsibilities include, but not limited to: * Detail methods of development and best-known procedures, document and transfer developed processes, and communicate results with senior management team and manufacturing partners * Document and communicate plans, status, and results of R&D projects in written reports and presentations, including the analysis and interpretation of data * Successfully collaborate with other Micron engineers and equipment vendors to improve and test new equipment, new chemicals, new process analysis software, and drive process improvements * Working in a highly collaborative environment with R&D and HVM (high volume manufacturing) partners in globally diverse geographic locations * Review various technical journals and industry literature to identify potential intellectual property (IP) opportunities and file disclosures to advance the protection of IP in the execution of your work Qualifications: * M.S. or Ph.D. in Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, or study relevant to Photolithography; or a B.S. in Engineering, Chemistry, Physics with 5 years of semiconductor process related experience with emphasis on Photolithography will be considered * Understanding of optics including the principles and application of immersion lithography, polarized illumination, and low k1 imaging * Experience with chemical process specific to lithography, including various materials used in substrate preparation and coated materials for use in 365 nm, 248 nm, 193nm, and EUV lithography * Deep knowledge of lithography simulation software and application to state of art high resolution imaging * Possess skills and experience with material properties and characterization techniques in development of photolithography processes * Strong aptitude for research and development and ability to generate production-worthy technologies * Ability to develop and maintain relationships with diverse teams and suppliers; possess high emotional intelligence and savvy * Driven and able to understand or can demonstrate knowledge of common memory chip architectures and the required process steps utilized to build them * Strong skills in the application of project management to complete project style work for periods of weeks up to a year in duration * Are you a strong and effective communicator (verbal, listening, and written)?
