Photography Locations Equipment Director

Smashbox is known throughout the industry as a hub for world-class photographers and directors to shoot important content for major magazines, ad campaigns, music & entertainment projects and brand visuals. We are looking for a Location Equipment Director to join our dynamic team. This position oversees Smashbox’s Location department and its team while reporting to the Studio Director. 

 Responsibilities

• Manage the Location Equipment department; inventory, fleet, staff, sales, customer service etc -all aspects of the department’s business per company goals and up to the standards of our high end clientele
• Maintain organization, presentation, and functionality of the photo/ video equipment inventory, vehicle fleet and department overall 
• Manage repairs and repair vendors to minimize inventory and fleet downtime
• Maintain inventory of all necessary expendables, parts and supplies
• Train and manage staff on all testing, packing & maintaining equipment, job workflow and customer service 
• Respond to all client inquiries, prepare estimates, consult on technical options and production logistics, negotiate budgets 
• Source additional equipment as necessary, coordinate with sub-vendors -maintaining strong working relationships with our support network 
• Inspect and pack / unpack equipment for outgoing / incoming jobs with concern for presentation and client service 
• Troubleshoot equipment and support clients in real time over the course of their jobs 
• Coordinate with other departments to support specific jobs
  Collaborate with the larger company on marketing, cross-selling, inter-co communication etc 
• Track and approve all related expenses on behalf of your department and team while working with a monthly budget 
• Close and approve all client invoicing upon job completion 
• Maintain a client network and generate sales focusing on a monthly revenue budget

Requirements

• Extensive photo/video equipment knowledge a MUST, including digital and computer equipment
• Working knowledge of the commercial photography/video industry
• Prior team management experience with at least 2 years prior experience in a similar role
• Customer service experience and focus
• Experience with inventory tracking software
• Drivers' License with clean driving record & familiarity with cargo vans, sprinters, cube trucks etc
• Vehicle repair experience and familiarity with 3rd party vehicle repair vendors
• Experience and willingness to work in a 24/7 Environment
• Experience working in a fast-paced, highly organized environment
• Physical condition necessary for warehouse operations; lifting 50 -100lbs 
• Mac OS, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word), G-Suite (Sheets, Docs, Slides)

Benefits

The base salary for this position is $75,000.00-90,000.00. These numbers represent the low and high end of our salary range for this position. Salaries will vary depending on various factors which include but are not limited to location, education, skills, experience and performance. The range listed is just one component of our total compensation package for employees.
