Job Description

KMOV Channel 4 is a Meredith Corporation TV Station.

The Photographer shoots and edits video of various news events and is responsible for capturing the visuals of news stories and editing all forms of media for daily news broadcasts, continuous news platforms and special reports. This position shoots stories in a compelling and brand-focused way to attract the largest audience available to the station's newscasts.

Must effectively operate high tech multi-media equipment including ENG vehicles. Photographers are expected to regularly contribute to all media platforms and initiatives, including for example: on-air, web, digital, and social media.

Essential Job Functions
30% - Photographs news, weather, and sports materials.
20% - Performs creative editing of news, weather, and sports materials.
10% - Sets up and operates lighting equipment.
10% - Operates ENG van and associated equipment.
10% - Transmits and records news, weather and sports video and/or audio feeds, including ENG feeds.
5% - Photographs and edits promotion and public service material.
10% - Performs limited newsgathering functions.
5% - Performs minor repairs of ENG equipment and cameras.
100%

Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements | All must be met to be considered.

Education:Completion of high school, or equivalent. College degree preferred.

Experience:

Two to five years of shooting and editing local news content.

Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Strong editing and shooting skills.

Ability to gather news with or without a reporter.

Strong interpersonal skills.

Ability to edit with Non-linear editing, Edius preferred.

Ability to operate microwave truck and related equipment.

Attention to detail.

Ability to work in a fast paced team-oriented environment.

Must possess a valid Driver's license with clean driving record.

Ability to operate microwave and satellite vehicles and equipment.

Ability to lift and carry 20-65 pounds.

Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends.

Semester internship available at broadcasting station in St. Louis, MO This particular Internship is a structured, part-time position, working approximately 25 hrs/week during the academic semester. It is designed to provide meaningful and challenging projects, specifically designed to enhance content distribution through new technologies that are immediate and easily accessible. The Internship program is designed to augment a student's academic studies. Duties can include, but are not limited to: Research and gather materials for reporter stories, investigations and newscasts. Assist with special projects, including elections, produced news programs and severe weather coverage. Answer newsroom telephones. Each intern, based on their area of focus (producer, reporter, investigative) will be required to complete a final project. College student, preferably a junior or senior, with a major in broadcast or journalism, who meets the academic eligibility requirements of the specific program. Must be able to obtain college credit for the internship. Individual subject matter and skills will vary depending upon available placements.
