WXII-TV has an opening for a self-motivated individual who wants to win each day. We are seeking a photographer with the ability to capture the essence of what's happening in the field, and then bring it vividly into the homes of our viewers. This member of our team will spend several hours each day editing for newscasts and several hours each day out in the field shooting, editing, and executing live shots for stories. The winning candidate is also tech savvy and up-to-date on the most modern aspects of our medium. You must be able to shoot on Sony XD Cam, GoPro, on laptop computer and Goggle Phone and edit in Adobe Premiere and utilize the ENG, SNG, and wireless data to feed completed work to the station. Excellent editing skills, exceptional time-management abilities, effective communication style, organization, and knowledge of Adobe Premiere, Precis, ABC and CNN platforms are critical. An excellent eye for video and the highest journalistic standards are a must. If you are quick acting, quicker thinking, and technically savvy, we want you working in our newsroom.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Shooting and editing of VOs, VO-SOTs and packages for Broadcast Air and On-line postings

  • Working with the Assignment Desk and Reporters to cover daily stories.

  • Gathers video and still pictures for digital platforms

  • Working with reporters and producers to ensure the best content and facts are gathered.

  • Working with producers to ensure their creative vision is executed with vivid video and natural sound.

  • Communicating and coordinating incoming video elements from crews in the field.

  • Can work with catalog systems to record and locate necessary video.

  • Will produce and publish content to our online platforms

Experience Requirements:

  • Must have computer and software experience.

  • Previous newsroom experience preferred.

  • Related military experience will be considered.

Qualifications Requirements:

  • Can easily carry up to 50 pounds of equipment

  • Efficient Operation on ENG trucks

  • Can work in all weather conditions

  • Can operate large vehicles, must have a valid driver's license and a near-perfect driving record

  • Exceptional ability to operate digital editing tools

  • Can organize and prioritize

  • Must be a self-starter - someone who doesn't wait to be told what to do

  • Ability to work under pressure, making quick decisions


  • College degree in broadcast journalism, broadcast news, or related field preferred

  • Equivalent military training from Defense Information School (DINFOS) and associated experience will be considered.

VIEW JOBS 10/11/2019 12:00:00 AM 2020-01-09T00:00 General Statement of Duties Benefits Supplemental Questions Forsyth County's Department of Community and Economic Development has an exciting opportunity for an organized and detail orientated Code Enforcement Officer to enforce the minimum housing code in Forsyth County and participating municipalities. This position is responsible for the inspection of homes and documenting the condition of homes through written and electronic methods. The employee in this position will document deficiencies accordingly, notify parties of interest for code enforcement hearings, conduct subsequent inspections, ensures that all pertinent data is captured and well documented. Duties include: Entering crawl spaces, climbing on roofs and ladders, inspecting small areas such as attics, and documenting findings. The Code Enforcement Officer prepares files, attends proceedings, and presents documentation for hearings. This position meets regularly with elected officials regarding code enforcement activities that require affirmation and provides data regularly to present to Management and the Forsyth County Board of County Commissioners. Distinguishing Features: The employee in this position must be able to exercise independent judgment and initiative in carrying out assignments. A successful candidate must have the following knowledge, skills and abilities: * Working knowledge of building and housing regulations, standards, minimum housing and related codes. * Excellent customer service and problem solving skills. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of individuals. * Efficient computer skills, including Google and Microsoft Suites. * Ability to detect structural defaults and appraise for quality. * Ability to recognize hazards and report adequately. * Ability to efficiently utilize modern technology, including tablets, cameras, and a variety of video recording devices. Work is performed under general supervision and is evaluated by review. Minimum Education and Experience: Associate's Degree in the building trades or related and two years experience in code enforcement, construction, housing, or relevant experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Requires a valid NC Driver's License. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Detects structural faults and appraises for quality. Recognizes and documents hazards. Provides and presents pertinent data and meets with officials regarding code enforcement activities. Prepares inspection reports and thoroughly documents findings. Ensures compliance with orders to repair and follow up activities. Prepares notices to parties of interest for code enforcement hearings, re-inspections, other actions regarding code activities. Provides data and information on a monthly, or more frequent basis, for review of program results. Perform related work as required Ability to enter and inspect crawl spaces, climb on roofs and ladders, inspect attics and other rooms while photographing and video recording any deficiencies.
