Provides direct supervision for the professional, competent, safe, appropriate collection of samples from patients - age newborn and older. Responsible for management of all documentation related to collection and resulting and subsequent communication between the Laboratory, ancillary and off campus sites, both verbal and hardcopy documents, Manages all aspects of Support services including but not limited to patient registration, specimen collections, staffing, CAP/Joint Commission/CMS compliance, Policies and Procedures development and implementation, and result reporting.
Maintains a professional, cooperative interaction with Laboratory Director and all hospital departments, medical staff, and the public in keeping with the mission and philosophy of Manatee Memorial Hospital. Trains, in-services, competencies of all staff. Communicates well with staff through monthly meetings.
Demonstrates Services Excellence at all times. Other duties as assigned.
High school graduate or equivalent; Associate degree Bachelors degree preferred.
Experience in Phlebotomy supervision for minimum of three years
Medical Laboratory Technician (ASCP) or Phlebotomist with National phlebotomy Certification, ASCP, AMT or PBT.
Requires excellent computer skills and working with EMR systems
Excellent interpersonal skills and Excellent Customer Service skills.
