Responsible for the hiring, orientation, training, discipline, performance reviews and termination documentation of personnel within area of responsibility to maintain reliable and competent staffing. Demonstrates knowledge of Laboratory Compliance policies and procedures.
Assures work schedule to provide adequate coverage for inpatient phlebotomy, offers support for second and third shifts across all sites, and minimizes the use of overtime.
Must be able to perform the duties of the individuals within the area of responsibility. Must have knowledge of collection and ordering requirements for reference labs as well as other specialty labs.
Participates in the Quality Management Program. Participates in Performance Improvement projects and monitors quality assurance indicators with responsibility for making improvements as necessary to provide good patient care.
Uses a variety of computer systems and programs to obtain and input vital information, communicate across the healthcare system and communicate directly with patient care staff to assure timely and appropriate services.
Continuously monitors and evaluates areas of responsibility to assure a high level of patient and customer satisfaction.
Monitor equipment and supplies for proper specimen collection and handling in order to assure patient safety as well as employee safety. Budget Responsibilities to include monitoring and maintaining expenses within budgeted figures.
Enhances professional growth and development of self, department staff, other hospital personnel, community and students by participating in continuing education and in service training.
Implements ICARE principles using communication skills and human relations to promote quality patient care and a productive work environment.
Performs other duties as assigned.

4 years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting
