SCHEDULE: 0.5 (20 hours per week)SHIFT: Days with rotating weekends.
POSITION SUMMARY: Under general supervision, the Laboratory Assistant II (Phlebotomist) obtains patient blood specimens by venipuncture and heel or finger sticks on all age groups in the hospital and satellite patient service settings and processes specimens as needed.
Minimum: Phlebotomy certificate
Minimum: Ability to multi-task and strong attention to detail.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Good judgment, common sense, ability to follow directions.
Preferred: One year or more prior experience in phlebotomy in a hospital setting.
Minimum: High School Diploma or Equivalent. Some college or vocational level science (Chemistry and/or Biology) and/or laboratory classes
Minimum: Ability to read, write, and converse in English.
Basic math and chemistry/biology knowledge. Basic phlebotomy skills. Knowledge of laboratory blood specimen requirement
Knowledge of blood specimen acceptability requirements. Familiarity with basic laboratory terminology.
