POSITION SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of the Laboratory Manager, performs venipuncture and related procedures following policies and procedures established by the laboratory department and Alleghany Health.

Collects COC Urine Drug Screens; provides assistance to MLT, MT and Laboratory Director. Maintains supply inventory for phlebotomy. Performs EMR Order Entry.

Medical Assistant duties consist of supporting clinic with performed clinic Waived Testing to include (Urinalysis dipstick, Strep, Flu, Pregnancy, Hgb, glucose, etc.) and associated quality control reporting, completing patient EKG's, rooming of patients, obtaining patient vital signs, cleaning rooms, and the restocking of clinic supplies. Medical Assistant duties will be secondary to the primary phlebotomist job duties and functions. Job Relationships:Responsible to:

Qualifications:The following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements of this job: Education and Formal Training:

Graduate from high school or equivalent. Mathematical, verbal, and writing skills at the high school level. Phlebotomy certification.

CPR certification not required. Completion of general and job specific competencies. Work Experience:

Prior experience preferred but not required.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: Excellent customer relations skills. Ability to work effectively with others, Ability to understand instructions and reason.

Performs in an accurate and precise manner in crisis and emergency situations when time is crucial. Ability to coordinate eyes and hands to fingers rapidly and accurately in making precise movements with speed. Ability to move the hands easily and skillfully.

Ability to move the fingers easily and skillfully. Frequent contact with soap and water (hand washing and cleaning).
