Performs venipunctures, and obtains/prepares blood specimens in accordance with Piedmont policies and procedures.


Assembles equipment such as tourniquet, needles, and disposable containers for needles, blood collection Devices, gauze, cotton, and alcohol on work tray according to requirements for specified tests or procedures.

Verifies or records identity of patient or donor and converses with patient or donor to allay fear of procedure.

Applies tourniquet to arm, locates accessible vein, swabs puncture area with antiseptic, and inserts needle into vein to draw blood into appropriate collection tube.

Withdraws needle, applies treatment to puncture site, and labels and stores blood container for subsequent processing.

Proficient in finger sticks when applicable.

Processes specimens according to test requirements. (i.e. spinning, separation, freezing).

Enter test orders and diagnosis codes in computer system.

Determine reference lab destination according to patient insurance type.

Corrects, sorts, and delivers lab reports to appropriate ordering physician.

Follow-up on all pending and missing results as needed.


High school diploma or general education degree (GED)


One year related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Phlebotomy Certificate from a medical training facility along with 2 years of clinical experience required.

VIEW JOBS 12/6/2019 12:00:00 AM 2020-03-05T00:00 JOB PURPOSE: Support the growth of a major health system by assisting the in-house Physician Recruiter with the logistics of the recruitment process to result in the successful placement of physician and mid-level candidates. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Develops and maintains working knowledge of the health system and regional communities in order to assist with candidate inquiries. 2. Works with the in-house physician recruiter to profile positions and develop practice opportunity descriptions. Attends Physician Recruitment Committee meetings, as needed. 3. Maintains a current open list for position openings, and provides monthly updates or as needed by the client. Maintains a weekly status list of all candidates on active searches. 4. Assists in-house recruiter with candidate interview process, as needed to include telephone coordination and confirmation with both the candidate and the client. 5. Assembles and distributes all collateral materials for physician recruitment. 6. Assists the in-house physician recruiter with the facilitation of the site visit for the physician candidate and spouse/significant other. This may include but is not limited to making arrangements for travel, lodging, meals, and welcome gift, developing itineraries for physician and spouse and providing transportation, as needed. 7. Develops and maintains an effective working knowledge of local physician employment agreements, employment process, offer packages, compensation and benefits to answer candidate questions as needed. 8. Establishes high reach work objectives, personally tracks and reports on performance. 9. Provides input, as needed, into the physician recruitment budget. Manages costs effectively, audits and submits expenses for approval and payment. 10. Works with the physician recruiter to assist the marketing, regional development and physician recruitment teams to fully develop a high impact, local physician website. Assists in the design, order, stocking of physician recruitment literature, packets, and brochures, as needed. MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED: High school diploma or GED required. MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: One year of administrative support experience, preferably in a human resources or recruitment setting. If Bachelor's degree, no work experience is required.
