SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITY:Under the supervision of the Lead Phlebotomist and/or Vice President of Allied Health # Clinical Support Services, performs approved phlebotomy procedures on inpatients and outpatients; processes laboratory specimens; aids in a variety of routine clerical work and transports specimens to performing laboratory.# Be available for on call phlebotomy.
Must be a high school graduate or equivalent. Must have completed an approved phlebotomy course.Must have active driver's license.
1.Perform phlebotomy on inpatient and outpatient populations using the stated procedural policies. 2.Greets and directs out patients arriving for Laboratory testing. 3.Registers and orders specimens received from clients into LIS.# 4.Prepares and processes specimens for delivery to performing laboratory. 5.Transports and delivers specimens to performing laboratory or arranges transportation to reference laboratories. 6.Monitors inventory levels and stores supplies in a neat and orderly manner. Notifies Lead Phlebotomist when ordering of supplies is needed. 7.Must have basic computer skills for LIS system.# 8.Acts as a resource to and assists in the training of other personnel. 9.Act as an on call phlebotomist during times when there is no scheduled phlebotomy coverage. 10.Cares for patients of all ages (adolescent, adult, geriatric) and is knowledgeable of age specific physiological changes, developmental needs, and appropriate therapeutic interventions.# 11.Responsible for any and all other duties required by the Vice President of Allied Health # Clinical Support Services.
