SUMMARY#OF RESPONSIBILITY - Job Summary (general statement of purpose or objective of position) Under the supervision of the lab manager, Phlebotomist properly identify patients and obtain blood specimens as ordered by a licensed health care provider. Phlebotomist ensure, in the presence of the patient, the specimens are properly identified with a hospital generated label or with two patient identifiers, the date, the time, and their unique ID.#Phlebotomist are#responsible for delivery of the specimens to the laboratory and must communicate with nursing and laboratory staff if there is problem in obtaining a specimen.

Phlebotomist also complete courier rounds, chain of custody drug testing, and breath alcohol testing. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS - Knowledge, skills, abilities, license, registration, certification, education, and experience EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, KNOWLEDGE: On the job training is provided. CERTIFICATION, LICENSURE, BONDING:

Registry is recommended. PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Must be capable of lifting in the stocking of supplies. Works in a clean, air conditioned, environment with some exposure to infectious diseases and toxic chemicals, with safety measures provided.

This position requires candidates to have reliable transportation, working telephone, standing for long periods of time, and ability to lift 40 lbs regularly.
