Our hospital includes a 24-hour ER with Level 1 trauma center, a comprehensive stroke center, more than 500 physicians and a full complement of subspecialty groups. Responsibilities Assists in providing patient care in accordance with patient care needs as directed by nursing staff and in accordance with physician’s orders and departmental protocols. Organizes and completes patient care tasks as assigned with supervision provided by the nursing and medical staff and in accordance with hospital and Emergency Department policy. Demonstrates and maintains clinical skills proficiency in all required Emergency Department technical support staff skills, including the use of equipment (as appropriate for position). Ensures that treatment areas are properly stocked with patient care supplies and assists in maintaining unit cleanliness. Assists in monitoring and documenting the patient’s response to nursing interventions and physician’s orders and informs the Registered Nurse or physician (as appropriate) of changes in the patient’s condition. Participates in quality improvement activities and educational activities, including attendance of at least 85% of staff meetings (10 out of 12). Qualifications Job Requirements High School diploma or equivalent Preferred Job Requirements Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) Completion of an accredited phlebotomy/medical assistant program with clinicals or previous phlebotomy experience Certification from nationally recognized agency, required. Accepted agencies and certifications include, but are not limited to: National Heathcareer Association – Certified Phlebotomy Technician: CPT (NHA) American Society for Clinical Pathology – Phlebotomy Technician: PBT (ASCP) American Medical Technologists – Registered Phlebotomy Technician: RPT (AMT) National Center for Competency Testing – National Certified Phlebotomy Technician: NCPT (NCCT) American Certification Agency – Certified Phlebotomy Technician: CPT (ACA)
