Phlebotomist - Full Time

This is on our Secor Rd campus - the hours are 7:30 am to 4:15 pm

General Summary:

Performs Venipuncture and capillary puncture on patients

Works under the supervision of the Manager

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

Example of Essential Duties:

1. Asks and records pertinent information (such as hours patient has been fasting) or for drug levels records the time of the patient's last dosage.

2. Obtains the proper specimen for test(s) ordered.

3. Properly labels all specimens.

4. Properly instructs patients on specimen collection.

5. Performs bleeding time tests.

6. Maintains a safe and clean work environment.

• Knows, understands and adheres to all laboratory, Clinic and/or OSHA safety standards.

• Maintains proper inventory of phlebotomy supplies. Never allows inventory levels to be so short that supplies must be ordered STAT.

Other Essential Duties May Include (but are not limited to):

9. Correctly processes requisitions which include initialing, time sampling, and time stamping (if possible), and placing specimens in the appropriate location.

10. Performs EKGs and witnesses the collection of urine samples.

• May perform Venipuncture off site at home draws, factory site draws, etc.

• Performs minor lab tests (i.e. urine dipstick, glucose and acetone, and/or STAT ESRs).

• Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

Required:

• One to two years of phlebotomist experience.

• Consistently arrives at work, in professional attire, on time and completes all tasks within established time frame.

• Seeks appropriate tasks when primary tasks are completed and assists co-workers as needed.

• Demonstrates adaptability to expanded roles.

• Adheres to clinic policies and procedures

Education:

• Phlebotomy diploma from an accredited school required.

Preferred:

• Certified phlebotomist preferred.
