Job Duties/Responsibilities

  • Perform blood collections by venipuncture and capillary techniques for all age groups

  • Collect specimens for drug screens, paternity tests, alcohol tests etc.

  • Perform data entry of patient information in an accurate and timely manner

  • Process billing information and collect payments when required

  • Prepare all collected specimens for testing and analysis

  • Maintain patient and specimen information logs

  • Provide superior customer service to all patients

  • Administrative and clerical duties as necessary

  • Travel to additional sites when needed

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Phlebotomy certification from an accredited agency is preferred

  • Previous experience as a phlebotomist

  • Proven track record in providing exceptional customer service

  • Strong communication skills; both written and verbal

  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment

  • Comfortable working under minimal supervision

  • Reliable transportation and clean driving record if applicable

  • Flexibility to work overtime as needed

  • Able to pass a standardized color blindness test

  • 4:00 pm, rotating Saturdays, 7:00 am

  • 12:00 pm; overtime as business needs require

You'll be part of the laboratory staff in a fast paced hospital environment with a focus on quality patient care and teamwork. Make use of your skills while drawing blood, processing samples and managing draw lists. We want you to be part of our team! Job Summary: Collects and labels all specimens requiring testing in the clinical laboratory. Performs order entry of tests as necessary. Ensures that specimens are routed to appropriate areas for testing. Performs waived complexity testing as required under the direction of a staff technologist. Processes all specimens for reference laboratory testing. Draws blood from the patient according to laboratory policy and procedure, demonstrating good phlebotomy skills. Labels all specimens at the patient bedside. Demonstrates proficiency in ordering and/or receiving specimens, and rejecting inappropriately collected/labeled specimens. Consistently monitors stat/timed boards to ensure appropriate specimen collection and turn around times. Consistent demonstration of daily pending list management, including reconciliation of specimens and hand off to incoming staff.
