Phlebotomist

Overview

As part of the medical team, the phlebotomist collects blood specimens for use by clinicians and/or other appropriate medical personnel for clinical analyses, evaluations, and/or diagnostic purposes.

Responsibilities

• Draws and collects blood samples from patients.

• Verifies records.

• Prepares specimens for laboratory analysis.

• May conduct patient interviews.

• May record patient histories.

• May monitor vital signs.

• Assist with administrative/clerical duties as necessary.

• All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.

• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program or comparable program.

• One year experience working in a physician office, clinic or ambulatory health care center.

• Must be CPR certified.
