Job Overview

Shriners Children's is the premier pediatric burn, orthopaedic, spinal cord injury, cleft lip and palate, and pediatric subspecialties medical center. We have an opportunity for a Philanthropy Coordinator located at our Greenville, SC facility.

The Philanthropy Coordinator is responsible for the stewardship of current donors, coordination of the hospital's volunteer program, and administrative operations of the philanthropy department as a crucial piece of the success of the fundraising efforts of Shriners Children's. This position reports to the Senior Director of Philanthropy.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Supports the Senior Director of Philanthropy in the fulfillment of departmental duties, including the generation of annual tactical plans and reports; budget preparation; and overall data management.

  • Supports the gift processing, donor acknowledgment, and donor recognition procedures for donations, tributes, and gifts-in-kind through Blackbaud CRM.

  • Maintains necessary donor tracking, and file management and develops complex reports.

  • Plans and implements strategies for the stewardship of donors. This includes developing stewardship relationships with donors, colleagues, and Shriners.

  • Assists Associate Director in developing and publishing donor communications through various channels including print materials, e-newsletters, online campaigns,etc.

  • Assist philanthropy team with large mailings, preparation of donor packets, tracking of donor recognition events, and meeting coordination.

  • Assist philanthropy team and volunteer solicitors with individual, corporate and foundation, and donor prospect identification, research, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.

  • Supports the philanthropy team in the planning and execution of major donor cultivation meetings, luncheons, and events.

  • Assist philanthropy team with event promotions, check presentations, conducting and assisting with hospital tours, etc.

  • Recruits, screens, and interviews potential volunteers.

  • Supervises volunteers to include volunteer-related activities (Spring Luncheon, Turkey Trot and Roll, Holiday Party, and Santa's Workshop)

  • Manages and tracks Roadrunners and their service to the hospital and patients.

  • Maintains appropriate volunteer records and documentation including relevant tracking systems and statistics periodically and as needed.

  • Develop and update volunteers' job descriptions and core competencies.

  • Works with department managers to assess volunteer needs and place appropriate volunteers in stated positions.

  • Manage the hospital's Student Shadow Program.

Qualifications

Experience Required:

  • Experience in an office setting in an administrative assistant or project coordination position required

  • MS Office proficiency required

  • High School Diploma/GED required

Experience Preferred:

  • Familiarity with professional fundraising activities preferred

  • Donor database or CRM experience preferred - knowledge of and/or willingness to learn various donor databases and communications software

  • Graphic design and e-communications experience preferred

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal skills, including proofreading, writing and editing skills

  • Excellent customer relations skills

  • Ability to speak with donors and prospects through various channels

  • Ability to organize and prioritize work with attention to detail

  • Adhere to and uphold ethical fundraising practices including the AFP Code of Ethical Standards and the Donor Bill of Rights

  • Ability to work independently with little supervision

  • Team player with a positive attitude. Open to new ideas and collaboration

  • Ability to creatively problem solve, make and implement decisions quickly and soundly

  • Proactively seeks opportunities for acquiring additional knowledge and skills
