REQUIRED: a bachelor's degree; a minimum of ten years of direct fund-raising experience at the major or philanthropic gift levels; demonstrated ability to deal effectively with the largest benefactors and prospects of the Institute; proven track record of closing major or principal gifts required; experience working closely with high-level volunteers and deans, provosts, and other high-ranking academic officers; excellent interpersonal skills; and a proven record of accomplishment in a position requiring independent planning and efficient utilization of time and resources. PHILANTHROPIC ADVISOR, OFFICE OF PHILANTHROPIC PARTNERSHIPS, Resource Development, to serve as a key member of the MIT Principal Gifts Office. Will qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward individuals identified as principal gift donors and prospects--those who have given $1,000,000 to MIT during their lives and/or have the potential for making gifts of $5,000,000 and above. Will also manage a select portfolio of principal prospect donor families in New York (with the flexibility to focus on other domestic or global regions as needed); work with MIT academic and administrative colleagues; and help develop meaningful relationships with significant donors, often traveling with the president, senior officers, and faculty in order to visit prospects where they live and work.
