Sentara is hiring a Pharmacy Technician to work as a Transition Specialist for Sentara Norfolk General's Outpatient Pharmacy, in Norfolk, Virginia!

Status: Flexi (8 hours), 1 shift per week for 8 hours, First/Day shift

Work schedule: Will work rotating one 8 hour shifts, M-F from the shifts below:

  • 8am
  • 4:30pm
  • 8:30am to 5pm

  • 9:00 am-5:30pm

  • 9:30am

  • 6pm

OR on Saturday for a 6 hour shift from 8:30am to 3:30pm. Same holiday hours (except Christmas and Thanksgiving) with special holiday pay and weekend differential, if applicable.

NO Sunday. Additional hours possible if requested, depending on business need.

Job responsibilities:

  • Responsible for logistically organizing, collaborating, and/or delivering required discharge medication, self-care products, and post-acute care services to patients and/or their families/caregivers. Also responsible for engaging the patient more actively in his/her own self-care, ensuring they are fully educated, engaged, and equipped to be successful in their self-care at home.

  • VA OR NC Pharmacy Technician Registration Number and PTCB or NHA Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT)

  • 1 year of pharmacy retail experience required

Qualifications:

  • Virginia Pharmacy Technician license REQUIRED

  • 1 year Pharmacy Technician experience REQUIRED

  • Pharmacy Technician Registration Number and Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) OR NHA Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) REQUIRED

Preferred qualifications:

  • Great communication skills

  • Strong background in prior authorization (retail experience)

  • Strong data entry experience and insurance adjudication knowledge

  • Prior retail pharm experience or hospital (meds to bed program) preferred

  • Working knowledge of: Epic and MckessonRX
