  • In accordance with state and federal regulations, assists the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy. Assists the pharmacist in the performance of other Pharmacy Department duties in accordance with Company policies and procedures.

  • Responsible for using pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions. If PTCB certified, assists with and coaches pharmacy technicians in the operation of pharmacy systems and cashiers in the operation of the pharmacy cash registers.

Customer Experience

  • Engages customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services. Resolves customer issues and answers questions to ensure a positive customer experience.

  • Models and shares customer service best practices with all team members to deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience, including interpersonal habits (e.g., greeting, eye contact, courtesy, etc.) and Walgreens service traits (e.g., offering help proactively, identifying needs, servicing until satisfied, etc.).

  • Develops strong relationships with most valuable customers.


  • Under the supervision by the pharmacist, assist in the practice of pharmacy, in accordance with state, federal, and company policy. Reviews and complies with the Walgreen Co. Pharmacy Code of Conduct.

  • Performs duties as assigned by Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist and Store Manager including utilizing pharmacy systems to enter patient and drug information, ensuring information is entered correctly, filling prescriptions by retrieving, counting and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, verifying medicine is correct, and checking for possible interactions. Assists pharmacists in scheduling and maintaining work flow.

  • Reports, immediately, prescription errors to pharmacist on duty and adheres to Company policies and procedures in relation to pharmacy errors and the Quality Improvement Program.

  • Strictly adheres to the Walgreen Co. policy regarding Good Faith Dispensing during all applicable prescription dispensing activities.

  • Responsible and accountable for registering all related sales on assigned cash register, collects and handles cash as required. Takes customer to OTC aisle when possible to assist in locating products.

  • Handles telephone calls that do not require personal attention of the pharmacist, including those to physicians.

  • Processes (corrects and resubmits) manual claims for third party program prescription services in a timely and efficient manner, and performs other clerical duties, as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager.

  • Assists and supports Pharmacy Department on inventory management activities, such as, ordering, unpacking, checking and storing shipment of pharmaceuticals. Maintains knowledge of Company asset protection techniques, and files claims for warehouse overages (merchandise received, but not billed), shortages (merchandise billed, but not received), order errors or damaged goods involving Rx drugs.

  • May assist pharmacist in administering clinical services including the collection and proper labeling of blood/urine samples from patients and other clinical services as required; assists pharmacy staff in coordination of clinical services, Walgreens healthcare clinics and external providers.

  • Assists Pharmacy Manager and Staff Pharmacist in developing and maintaining good relationships with the local medical community, including physicians, nurses, and other health care providers, by medical provider detailing and outreach to health groups, retirement homes, nursing homes, and other forums for enhancing growth opportunities.

  • Assists with exterior and interior maintenance by ensuring the Pharmacy Department is stocked with adequate supplies, clean, neat and orderly in condition and appearance.

  • Complies with all company policies and procedures; maintains respectful relationships with coworkers.

  • Completes special assignments and other tasks as assigned.

Training & Personal Development

  • Earns and maintains PTCB certification through the designated PTCB training program and/or state required certification/registration. Otherwise, earns PTCB certification as condition of promotion to senior technician.

  • Attends training and completes PPLs requested by Manager and acquires continuing education credits. Maintains knowledge and skill in healthcare and pharmacy, including latest news and developments.

Basic Qualifications

  • Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English. (Except in Puerto Rico)
  • Requires willingness to work flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prefer six months of experience in a retail environment.

  • Prefer to have prior work experience with Walgreens.

  • Prefer good math skills so they can fill prescriptions accurately, including counting, measuring and weighing medications.

  • Prefer good computer skills.

  • Prefer the knowledge of store inventory control.

  • Prefer PTCB certification.

VIEW JOBS 4/22/2020 12:00:00 AM 2020-07-21T00:00 Job Summary: Seeking a qualified, part time (benefits eligible), Pharmacy Admixture Technician who would float between our Bath, Green, and Stow Wellness Center Infusion Pharmacies. Under the direct supervision of the Pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician Admixture for Health & Wellness is responsible for performing routine pharmacy duties and assisting the registered Pharmacists with technical pharmacy operations including the hazardous and non-hazardous compounding of sterile products. The Technician works in accordance with established practices, procedures, and administrative policies. Responsibilities: * Assist pharmacists in filling infusion suite orders, including completion of necessary documentation. * Prepare, deliver and collect all pharmacy items throughout the infusion suite including re-stocking of automated dispensing cabinets. * Perform floor checks, stock checks, and assigned unit review as required. * Completes all Pharmacy Keeper Activities and inspections assigned to their position. * Completes all necessary documentation of compounding steps in Pharmacy Keeper as required by department's standard operating procedures. * Assist Pharmacists in monitoring stock for outdated medications and properly dispose of them in a timely manner. * Process medication returns/refunds to patient accounts. * Perform sterile compounding in compliance with USP <797> and USP <800> (if compound is hazardous) regulations. * Maintain compliance with all written and hands on aseptic technique testing as required by USP <797> regulations. * Prepackage medication as necessary and according to established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). * Answer telephones and assists callers with needs that do not require the professional judgment of a pharmacist. * Must be able to interact with EPIC, our dispensing automation software (e.g. Omnicell, etc.) and Pharmacy Keeper software to answer all questions related to the processing of a medication order. * Assist customers of the infusion suite including house staff, couriers and others as needed. * Perform general cleaning duties as assigned to maintain cleanliness of the pharmacy and meet regulatory compliance in the I.V. admixture area. * Perform inventory control functions including ordering from our wholesaler and maintaining appropriate pars of inventory as required by the department and patient care. * Continually demonstrate behavior that anticipates and meets the needs of patients and other pharmacy department personnel. * Other duties as assigned. * Follows Hospital and department policies and procedures with special attention to attendance and punctuality, confidentiality, dress code and display of ID badge, and safety. * Completes mandatory education and training in order to maintain organization and department-specific competencies and requirements. Education: * High school graduate or the equivalent required * Associates degree or some college coursework preferred. Certifications: * Registered as a Certified Pharmacy Technician with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy. * Has passed the C.Ph.T. test and continues to meet continued education requirements to keep C.Ph.T certification in good standing. * CPhT-CSP certification preferred. Complexity of Work: * Various shifts, including weekends and holidays. * Proficient typing skills required. * Successful completion of pharmacy department training program for Pharmacy Technicians including USP <797> sterile compounding competency, and USP<800> competencies. * Ability to work harmoniously and efficiently with other personnel both within and external to the pharmacy. * Ability to complete tasks accurately and efficiency with minimal direct supervision. * Experience in a hospital inpatient pharmacy preferred. * Experience in a USP797 compliant sterile products compounding room preferred. * Experience with EPIC electronic healthcare record other similar programs preferred. * Understanding of medical terminology and calculations preferred. * Experience in compounding hazardous chemotherapy preferred. Work Experience: * Previous experience as a pharmacy technician. Physical Requirements: * Ability to perform work consisting of routine standing and walking. * Ability to routinely lift up to 20 pounds.
