Job Description:

Assists in the preparation of medications. Assists in maintaining records andreports. Maintains sufficientinventories at workstations.
1.AssistsRegistered Pharmacist in the non-professional (non-judgmental) aspects of preparingand dispensing medication.

  • Fills, packages, labels and stocks medications.

  • Fills bottles or other package forms with measured amount of medication either manually or mechanically.

  • Labels containers of drugs according to department specification, either manually or mechanically.

  • Fills medication orders in outpatient area.

  • Responsible for extemporaneous medication packaging, as required.
    2.AssistsRegistered Pharmacist in maintaining a variety of records and reports.

  • Maintains records for medication in outpatient area.

  • Assists in the maintenance of statistics and records for all medication orders.

  • Enters orders into computer system.
    3.Maintainssufficient inventory at workstations in Pharmacy.

  • Transports required pharmacy material, as necessary.

  • Receives and maintains records of stock and inventory control.

  • Assists in material control by maintaining records and inventories.

  • Maintains placement of sufficient daily inventory of supplies.
    4.Operatespoint-of-sale cash register system according to department policies whileensuring positive customer experience.
    5.Interactswith customers and healthcare providers (or Pharmacy Benefit Managers) to help facilitate thefilling of prescriptions, handle/resolve rejections, and obtain priorauthorization which will expedite prescriptions into the workflow.
    6.Complieswith Food and Drug Administration (FDA) mandates and self-imposed manufacturerrestrictions on particular drugs, as applicable including Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategy (REMS)programs and manufacturer limited distribution drug requirements.
    7.Performsrelated duties, as required.

Qualifications

  • HighSchool Diploma or equivalent, required.

  • Graduate of a recognized Pharmacy Technician TrainingProgram orPTCB Certification (CPHT), required.

  • Minimumof two (2) years related experience as a Pharmacy Technician including retailpharmacy with a computerized system within the last three (3) years, required.

  • Abilityto learn computerized retail pharmacy system.

  • Strongcommunications skills, required.

  • Bilingual,preferred.

Join us and start doing your life's best work.(sm) Primary Responsibilities: * Travel up to 75% to providers and retail locations throughout the state of New York. Make Medication outreach calls related to medication adherence, answer member questions related to adherence, educate as needed on RX benefits and document outcomes as appropriate * Advise patients on alternate Rx fill strategies of retail versus mail order and options for financial assistance * Identify patients for medication adherence barriers and collaborate with pharmacists, providers and pharmacies to develop a plan to increase patients' medication adherence * Make referrals to appropriate clinical programs and / or local resources to support continuity of care * Collaborate with independent pharmacies and "embed" as needed to improve the medication adherence performance for assigned pharmacies * Collaborate with prescribing clinician to update the members care plan and address medication adherence barriers * Serve as a resource to support Pharmacy initiatives that will lead to better star performance and outcomes * Act as liaison between member, Pharmacist and prescribing clinician * Be aware of active Medicare and Retirement Provider incentives specific to RX Measures * Report pharmacy outcomes to local URS Clinical Pharmacist, Practice Performance Manager, and health plan * Activities may include data collection, data entry, quality monitoring, HQPAF submission and chart collection activities You'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested Required Qualifications: * High school diploma * 1 year of pharmacy experience in a retail, primary care office, or hospital setting * Current resident of NY or NJ * Ability to travel 75% of the time throughout the entire state of New York including a valid driver's license with access to a reliable vehicle Careers with Optum.
