1.0 FTR (40 hours/week, full time benefits)
Under the direct supervision of the pharmacist; process medication and IV orders which may include reviewing orders, retrieving, packaging, labeling, compounding sterile and non-sterile elements, delivering and performing required documentation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Procurement of pharmaceuticals and supplies
Coding of invoices.
Restock drugs and supplies.
Deliver medications to patient care areas and pick up orders and/or returned medications.
Clean pharmacy drug and solution work and storage areas per assigned schedule.
Check pharmacy drug and IV solution supplies for dates of expiration and remove outdated drugs and supplies according to policy and procedure.
Answer the telephone, screen and route all incoming telephone calls to the appropriate person or take messages according to office policy and procedure.
Greet clients providing courteous, caring and professional assistance.
Perform monthly inventory of drugs.
Check and document temperatures for fridges, freezers, incubators and take appropriate action if necessary.
Complete and pass yearly Aseptic technique testing as outlined in P & P in a timely manner.
Prohibited from conducting evaluations or interpreting any clinical decision. Refers clinical questions to appropriate staff.

Perform other duties as requested by Pharmacy Manager to facilitate the smooth and effective operations of the organization.
Employee is responsible for completion of communication tasks and activities in a timely manner. This would include, but is not limited to: responding to email, voicemail or telephone messages, promptly, accurately, and professionally; attending staff meetings as scheduled or viewing videotapes of those meetings; asking questions of team members and supervisors when needing clarification about various day-to-day issues or patient needs; and reviewing employee communication pieces, to stay aware of UnityPoint at Home programs and initiatives.
Must register as a pharmacy technician with Board of Pharmacy High School or Vocational School graduate or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to work as a collaborative team member. Read, speak and write fluent English and perform simple arithmetic computations. Licensed driver in the State of Iowa with current operator's permit, commercial drivers' license certification and automobile insurance in accordance with state and/or organizational requirements.
