About the Position: We are looking for a dependable#Pharmacy Technician#that will process and fill prescriptions. You will also undertake other tasks under the direction of a pharmacist to provide excellent customer service and ensure the pharmacy runs smoothly.   4.Demonstrates a thorough knowledge and understanding of the duties and responsibilities of the technician position:

a. Essential duties related to opening and closing of the pharmacy.

b. Becomes fluent in prescription software

c. Processing, filling and adjudicating prescriptions and DME products

d. Cash register operations

e. Screening and answering telephone calls

f. Communicating with providers and their agents to obtain refill authorizations

g. Use and maintenance of equipment and facilities

h. Medical terminology and abbreviations

i. Drug names and classifications

j. Inventory and storage requirements

k. Pharmaceutical calculations

5.Demonstrates a working knowledge of:

a. federal and state regulations governing dispensing of prescriptions, controlled and non- controlled medications, DME and 340b purchasing.

b. Medication error prevention methodologies

• Participates in the gathering and processing of performance data as requested or assigned.

• Promotes customer service by demonstrating polite, cooperative and respectful behavior to both internal and external customers.

• Processes prescriptions accurately and in a timely manner.

a. Prioritizes time and volume of work appropriately.

b. Completes cash register and charge transactions accurately.

• Maintains appropriate inventory control

a. Performs online and manual purchasing functions accurately and in a timely manner to prevent stock-outs.

b. Checks in drugs and processes all invoices according to policy and procedure.

c. Monitors expiration dating on a monthly basis. Segregates and returns outdates per policy.

10. Performs all other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through PTCB (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board)

Prior retail pharmacy technician experience preferred

LICENSURE / REGISTRATION

Current registration with the Minnesota Board of Pharmacy
